It's an Alocasia macrorrhizos. They like a lot of water, but still make sure the drainage is good. They don't sit in water as much as Colocasias can. They also prefer full sun but can cope with a little shade. So if it stays indoors most of the time you should keep it in the brightest area you can. The way yours has grown the temperature must be okay. They are grown for food, especially in Fiji, but most probably also in southern China.

Hi. I know of a few apple cultivars that look something like yours. However, given the time of year, my guess would be Milton, a cross of McIntosh x Yellow Transparent, bred by Cornell's New York Agricultural Experiment Station in the 1920's, sister to Early McIntosh.

Here I am ...lol Hi Andrew: I most defiantly would make a direct question to "Rhizzo" or "Jean" since they may not even be aware of this problem you are having. I would also look up the Pest and Disease forum since that is where they hang out, and ask the same question there. I can guarantee that you will be helped as fast as lightning since they are just two of many that are always willing to help. They are usually spot on too. I wish I could help, but I have never seen this type pest before and you want to make sure you treat it with the right pesticide if they are pest's. Do they leave a sappy or sticky residue on the leaves anywhere? When did you first notice them? What affect are they having on the leaves? At what temps do you grow them? What is the coolest you can grow them at? Have you tried any sprays yet? Are the trees small enough to wipe these things off with a cloth and water? Sorry for so many questions, but I like a lot of detail:-) Let us know, ok. Hope you are doing good. We can keep these thread going if you wish too. Hi Hyed, The are 4' tall and my take lines up with gardengal, that they are likely 'Sister Theresa'. Both Mallet and Dirr describe the aging flowers in a way that best matches with 'Sister Theresa': -Mallet says it keeps its flowers until first frost and that they turn sea green in autumn (this lines up with the color of the flowers where the sun doesn't hit them). Mallet was writing from Normandy, France, so may not color well there, but we have the same green in the shade. -Dirr says flowers become green tinted red when ready to dry and this lines up closer to what I saw at my mother in law’s. Thankfully there aren’t that many white H. macrophylla mopheads that would have been around 20 years ago and in reading the descriptions of, for instance, ‘Le Cygne’, ‘Mme. Emile Mouillere’, ‘Regula’, ‘Schwan’, ‘Woodworth White’, I’m certain it’s none of those, so when I start second guessing ‘Sister Theresa’, I go through the process of elimination again and arrive right back at ‘Sister Theresa’.
