I just looked up Mother of Thousands and in some photos it looks like it, others it doesn't. There are no babies to speak of, and the woman who gave it to me didn't mention it propagating that way. Most of the plants she gave me we discussed in depth, I'd think she would have mentioned if it did that... but I don't know for sure.

Leftmost plant is definately Mother of Thousand (Millions) aka Kalanchoe daigremongtiana of Bryophyllum daigremontiana.

If it has no "babies," can I expect that it will develop some?

musicaldeity, pirate girl hit it right on the money. You have Mother of Thousand. And yes you can expect it to make small clusters on the edges of the leaves as they get bigger they will form small roots and then fall off. Thus you have a new plant.

I have one of these and they can make a ton of baby plants, which you can plant and share with family and friends.I keep mine in half sun -half shade. Do not like to be real dry.

MD - you may want to run for the hills from this plant, especially since you live in a warm area. They turn into a real nuisance, dropping their little plantlets everywhere. They'll show up in every nook and cranny in your garden and pots. I grew it several years ago and got rid of it after I got tired of plucking growing plants out of EVERYthing. To this day, I still find the little suckers growing in other pots! Last year, even though I had no "mother" plant, I still had a batch of them turn up growing in the cracks of my deck! I let the winter kill those, but I still find them in other pots now and then. It's one of those things that will survive the end of the world along with roaches!

But the little plantlets are part of the plant's charm. Even little ones that root have them, often as soon as they get past their first set of "real" leaves. Has anyone ever heard/seen one of these WITHOUT the plantlets? They seem to make more in difficult conditions and flower when things are better for them but I've never seen one without any at all.

I'm hoping mine does grow them, and I figure I'll give them away when it does. I'm going to keep it potted and on the porch for right now, that would keep it from causing too much trouble in my yard.

My aunt planted one of these for my daughters a couple years ago. Even though I let it die over the winter, it came back. It even created another adult in my garden. Yes, it is a nuisance, but it kinda grows on you, pun intended.

My experience as well.

Hard to tell on the cactus, but if I had to guess, Because you're in Florida and I too just gave away a plant that looked a lot like it... the dead part anyway, I'd say it's a small Barbed wire cactus... Acanthocereus tetragonus (or pentagonus). It can get pretty large and produces HUGE flowers.

But if you have a big empty garage with rugs, it would work out there, but close the door behind you. Pot up the extra ones and give them to shut ins, children, senior centers, they can delope a stem that will hold big red flowers that hang down. Which is worth the wait. They don't need a large pot to grow in. Just keep ahead of all the babies that will pot up in other pots. You might try growing it on the driveway so it won't get out of hand. You have a beautiful perfect specimen. Give them away to young children and tell them how to take care of them, it's just fun to see their little faces when they leave the classrooom, plant in hand, to take home. Norma
