OT: POTH ,my 1st Iris blooms

Good morning, Good Day or just a very warm welcome to the POTD and our great forum.

I figured it is Sunday. Appropriate to start it out like that.

Weather wise right now :

the storm just passed a little while ago. Moving on. Biggest T-Storm warning he just said for East of I-35 .

Garden news:

Plumeria cuttings came in last night. So they are safe from more water also until they are rooting out. Reading up on Fuchsia care and do not know why I am doing this to myself rofl.

The Iris' also got a hold of me. What beauties they are! When and where is the best time to get more varieties? any help would be deeply appreciated.

I could say it is the picture of the HOUR...roflmao

But to be honest as I am, it is a typo in the dark and eyes not open yet lol

Lucy, beautiful irises! I only have the bearded irises and had some beauties bloom! Most of mind are noids because I got a humongous box of baby irises for postage from a lady up in northern CA. It will be a wonderful surprise when they bloom!

BTW, remember I had to ask what POTD was, and now you are throwing in something else, POTH, LOL!!!!!

hey all, I am just glad I am not the guy that drank the guys drink roflmao I don't know why I only ended up with ONE star hibiscus. I planted so many seeds at the winter sowing. So many had shared the seeds with me and I hope I can pass it on to others. Yupp I just got done watering too a few minutes ago. But while I water, I also do a touch, talk and cleaning up of most plants lol. Brenda good thought...not long and it will be Halloween again. I don't know if I got the bloom wet in the morning when I first sprayed the leaves down. But a few pedals were a little deformed. I still loved it because it was my FIRST :-) Lucy

yupp I was shooting in the direction of his car lol After I went out this morning I indeed saw that this year some of the blooms do not even have ANY LAVENDER in them. This is a ever changing Dat lol I think it has not made up its mind yet what it wants to be when it grows up roflmao Pam actually I THOUGHT we had enough rain last night...just got in from re potting some seedlings and potting up the Brug cuttings that i had in water a few days and finally got time to put em in dirt lol But I did get a few very nice pictures this morning. Not with raindrops but it looks like the dew is covering the whole flower. Very pretty. Tim you should try them. I love them very much. I do however love the HUGE single white Datura. When you walk out at night and in the morning and they are everywhere...they just GLOW Lucy

OT: Dutch Iris Blooming

I've planted Dutch iris, but the only ones that have lingered & bloom are yellow. I have Eye of the Tiger, but they have not bloomed for 2 years. I'm going to divide them when the foliage dies back & see if that is the problem. They have certainly multiplied since I planted them. Yours look just great. They have them growing occasionally at the nursery here, but usually I just see them as bulbs. I'll have to remember to pick up some more next year after seeing yours. You are such a bad influence Rita!

I agree, Monday was so bad I too set it apart in my mind as possibly the worst day this winter. I got colder during that walk than I ever had walking home at night, in the dark, during one of those classic spiral windy snowstorms that have defined this year. My dad always says he envies the fact that I can walk to work b/c he thinks it would help clear ones head. Little does he know that my head isn't clear, it's full of daydreams about all the different varieties of long underwear I could buy. Then, I get to work, warm up, and forget all about long underwear, completing the cycle. I'm going to be listening for birds now! I agree, they must know something. They know this weekend is going to be way better than a box full of long underwear.

Lucy, your iris is gorgeous! We are looking for that rain that you are getting. I don't want the destructive storms, but a good rainy day would be most welcome.

Kristy got me hooked on the bearded ones when she gave me a hole window box and big pot full of yellow iris'.
Now I got to feed my addiction and add a few new varieties each season.

Thanks Shawn and Susan. Bought that one as a tuber and only ONE stalk or what ever you call that leave growth, then the ONE bloom. I do however hope that it will readily multiply also.

The first year most of them don't do much but next year should give more blooms. Those are very pretty. I got some pretty purple ones this year. I love it so much. I only had yellow before, lol. I want some of those german ones. One looks like a pink cloud. I hope to get it next fall. Thats the best time to get iris and then they are usually settled in enough to bloom by spring.

Kristy tell me about it. the YELLOW ones you gave me, I planted them in fall too and by spring....they had multiplied and bloomed like crazy.

I can not believe you had YELLOW ones left with ALL that you gave me lol

I love em because they give the empty flowerbeds a green look in the winter on top of their beauty. :-) Maybe one day I will have enough so I can just cut some for the house. Not only when a storm comes and I want to safe the flowers so I can enjoy them a little.
