Will my Aloe root like this?? pic attached

My aloe Vera plant fell down and broke it's arm.....now I know there are conflicting opinions on this particualr way of rooting, some say it will, others say it wont.....but it's worth a shot right?

So it broke, I let it dry up overnight, it formed a "scab" I guess you could say. I potted it in Cactus soil, with a bit of rooting hormone, and watered it a bit......this was about a week ago and it still looks good.....no roots yet.

So my question is.......Has anyone here successfully propogated an aloe vera like this or am I wasting my time??

Sorry Trace,

If I understand what I'm looking at, it's just a leaf you've potted up, which will not grow a new plant. Aloes don't reproduce like this, one needs a pup (baby plantlet) or at the very least, the base of the rosette (the very center of the plant, from where the leaves grow).

Sorry to say there's no controversy abt this at all, it simply will not work (but of course, you're welcome to try for yourself).

And I have heard of people doing this, so they obviosly took a part of the rosette then?

Thanks Texas-weed for the info. I know I'm way past late in rolling it,but my work schedule and the weather just didn't wan't to cooperate. Now we didn't get anywhere near as much rain as you did this weekend, but I had to lay the last part of this in the dark in a downpour Sunday night. Then Monday had to pull 8hrs mandatory OT, so this morning was my first opp to git 'r done. The rain has kept it pretty moist along with what I've been doing, so hopefully it'll be OK. And auteck, if that is Zoysia and my yard turns out anywhere close to yours, I'll be the talk of my neighborhood! There's only one guy who's yard is close to that, but he doesn't do organics, do you? How old is it? Did you DIY? Either way it's an awesome yard. Congrats! Off-topic question... how did you place your pic directly into your post w/o linking? Just curious.

I also spray it with one of the following, not all of them AT THE SAME TIME. Saffer's soap, soap and water with greese in it. Neem oil, Windex, alconol diluted spray, Amways soap with coconut, hair shampoo with coconut oil. ( Yardley's), any brand of Cactus pest spray. Use a new clean pot. Do NOT use Peat Moss in the soil. Thank you beachplant... I think Pink Blush is my favorite! It was the first I got then wanted more. I actually have 3. lol.. One is forming pups right now.. Several are blooming too... Hi Brad.... Thanks..:) I would love one of all of Kelly's..:) My pinks are getting great color too! Even my hubby commented when he got home yesterday how nice they were getting! Thank you for the suggestions of other breeders... And yes, I have my eye on them! :) I LOVE Dick Wrights, and yes they are HARD to come by! I have dandelions and this one don't look like my other dandelions and it doesn't grow the same. Dandelions roots grow down in the soil and this plant grows right under the soil line going across and another plant comes out from this root. This plant seem to be able to have lots of other plants coming from the same root system...

There's no taking "a part of the rosette", it's either all or none. That's why you need a pup or the whole rosette. Perhaps you misunderstood how/what they did?

I had read that people have done this, so I thought mayba, just maybe, but that info came from personal blogs....etc, I havent found a reputable page or person who has actually done it.....but I cant throw it away yet....lol, have to wait till its mushy.....it still is doing just fine, it is healed over at the bottom, so for know I guess its going to use its lat stores before dying......thanks for the advice, it was wishful thinking.
