I thought fusca but then discarded that idea. Certainly not C. Queen. The bigger succulent leaves are a little more difficult to start but not impossible. The idea is to treat them like succulents (very little moisture inside but still cover them to keep humidity in) and when they start rooting then to give them more water. I first thought nelumbiifolia but then your mother's leaves look different than yours. Here is my old C. Queen in an 18 inch pot back in 2005. My biggest one was Lotusland and I kept it for two years - it is a monster. I was able to propagate it from leaves but it was more difficult than other large leaf begonias. I found another name you might want to check - gigantea. At least this how I bought it - from left to right gigantea, Sophie, and a smaller version of Lotusland

your plant is stressed.. from shipping ... lets try not to love it to death ... where are you big city name.. there might be some cold damage during shipping ... nothing you can do about it ... water a plant when it needs water .. less is better than too much .. insert finger and find out.. the wilting leaves are not due to a water issue... based on what you say ... it does not need a scarf .. unless you are walking around the house in a parka .. lol ... humidity is not an issue ... fert is not a response .. its stressed.. not hungry ... i would inform the sender about the damage.. and see what they say .. i dont mean the gift giver .. i mean the florist or grower .. it doesnt need to go potty.. so i dont know why the bathroom would help ... and i wonder what useful light there would in there ... do not harm it further by putting it in direct sun in a window.. but do insure its getting good light ... just water it properly.. and give it a month to settle down and drestress .. and stop trying to fix it ... in the same said month.. you destress .. lol ... ken ps: on review of the pix.. that cracked leaf looks like shipping damage .. but.. if we lose a few leaves.. dont worry about it ... if it settles down ... it will start putting out new leaves to replace such ...

The pots do have drainage holes and I used potting mix advertised as fast draining for cacti and succulents. Would you recommend I take them out to repot with perlite or pumice added? I’m realizing now I did go overboard with size. I had thought bigger meant more room for root growth but did not know it would lead to more moisture retention, which makes sense now. Any recommendations for what to do? I’m most worried about fairy castle, so I cut a few healthy looking branches off with hope to propagate if the whole plant can’t survive.

I find it hard to believe with that much mulch piled around that tree that the trunk ever saw a weed whacker or lawn mower close enough to do damage to the trunk. The damage is consistent with trees that are planted too deep, having the root flare smothered. Or it might be a mulch volcano, which would produce the same results. Chances are, if he has another tree with the same problem, then both were planted the with the same incorrect planting practices. I didn't read this whole thread but has anyone asked the OA to sweep back the mulch and/or soil to find out where the root flare is? It certainly would be fun to find out.
