How do you label or remember what brug is which one?

I have not seen anything about it yet. Hope I did not miss it somewhere. I have tried writing it on the containers...for my seedlings with even waterproof markers and permanent one, BUT I can hardly read it. It is ok I take a chance and wait. The only onces I do NOT want to forget what the are even years from now are the named Brugs. I have a horrible memory with names! :-( Need advice on how to go about it. I would write down where I put what but I am sure that I will move them around to find just the right place for each one. Then in winter storage it is also going to be hard to keep them seperated. Sorry for the story lol

I use cut up mini blinds, and a hole punch. I tie the tag onto the plant with a piece of old panty hose, so as not to harm the plant. Leave it loose, so that the plant can grow. I write the name on with a permanent marker, then paint over it with clear polyurethane to make it last longer. I usually have to replace them about every 5 years.

If the stem is thick enough I write directly on it but that does tend to fade over the course of a couple years so I try to remember to put a stake or hang a tag as well. Unfortunately I have a toddler who made it his life's work to remove every tag that was within his reach last year. Not only that but I'm kind of forgetful as well so I have lots of named brugs that are now NOIDs.

For the public herb garden we made rectangular bronze labels cut out of a sheet of bronze with a band saw. We taped the edges with masking tape to form a border and used stick on letters to mask where the name's letters went. Then the labels were dipped in a ferric chloride bath until enough was eaten away so the letter and edges were raised above the background. The label were then neutralized with baking soda and copious amounts of water and the masking tape and letters were removed. Finally holes were drilled in the four corners of the border. Since the herb garden beds were outlined with railroad ties around the outer edges and landscaping timbers around the paths, the labels could be nailed into these wooden edges of the beds. Very classic and very work intensive. We didn't move the plants much and with practice I became very good at prying the labels off with a screw driver and a dandelion digger on the rare occasions they needed to be moved. On the other end of the spectrum, I have made labels out of strips of used gallon milk jugs with the letters punched with a paper punch. Folks, I've ordered BLACK plastic labels for years-the only place to get them is from England, and only online through their site (they don't sell in retail outlets even in the UK!). I adore them, because black totally DISAPPEARS into your garden! They have tons of shapes and sizes, and loads of other products as well. A bit pricey,due to shipping from the UK, but not onerously so. It is unbelievably worth it, to ahve neat black labels unobtrusively residing amid the foliage. Your always look so healthy it makes me ashamed of mine, lol. I really have to get some weeding and leaf picking done. Those labels look great! You are going to be going through that tape fast it looks like, lol. Its kind of fun when something pops up and I go oooooh I wonder what THAT is, lol. Something to be said for labels disappearing in my beds. Makes things interesting, lol. The brugs are the only things I really attempt to keep the names for now.

And would like to add that I just went to 2 different nurseries after posting the above post and all they sold was 24-8-16. So, if someone would be so kind as to tell me what would be the best way to break this 24-8-16 down and how often to give it, it would be greatly appreciated. What would be the best breakdown? Currently I have 24-8-16 and a box of bloom booster 15-30-15. Also, while at the nursery I spotted Super Bloom, 12-55-6. As far as the bloom booster, which of the two do you recommend as well? I hope someone can help me. Thanks so much.

You think my daughter would mind if I take her miniblind down? lol.......that is the only one I have around lol. Guess I need to look at garage sales or maybe just buy a cheap one?

If they aren't custom blinds there's probably several extra slats that you can remove. I was able to take about 10 slats from each blind in the playroom.

I Just found Impress-o-Tags. My sister in law has used them for about 3 years. Names still on tags, no fading. You write on them with a pencil or stylus. I got them on ebay.

I use what ever I can find...LOL Mini blindes if you get just one will last a life time... Pencil lasts forever as does a China Marker~grease pencil..Having them attached to the plant or pot helps.. I also have little helpers around and they love to clean up all of those markers .."Here Nanie we picked these up for you" AWWWW!!! Baby THANKS.. PIchiiii...LOL

I might have problems with the cats thinking it is a new toy dangling around brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr oh no. but then the brugs will never be around the cats anyways. They most likely would chew on them :-(
