Lavendar is not purple, my chart #235.0.255 would be what was found on the screen with red? Appears to be in the B. Sang range?

Kylie I just got back from there a year ago after spending the last 8 years there. My family lives there too ;-) So I will see. For now and this season I think I am just sticking with the onces I started from seeds I bought all over the place and from the few I ordered. Which still have not gotten here. :-(

Do you remember a few years back when a guy Photoshopped his brug and was selling it on eBay as purple? Brugmaniacs all over were FLOODING eBay with complaints, and his ad was eventually pulled, but I wonder if he sold any to the gullible and ill informed before that, and how many people are now looking at their brugs and feeling stupid?

Yep, that's right, Karma. I only know 5 or 6 of us personally, counting myself, & have heard of only a couple more. We're a rare breed, but then it's tricky enough sometimes here in the PNW, I imagine alot of gardeners & growers got discouraged on their 1st sang in many other parts of the country where summers are so hot! Hopefully some of us will end up with hybrids that are more heat-tolerant over the next few years. I'm keeping my fingers (& toes :) ) crossed.

I don't speak German but I think those 2 guys are running off with the purple brugs.
OK, so we want, no NEED, a purple brug that will tolerate heat. Sangs die in a matter of days here on the hot, humid Gulf coast so we can't even grow red.

Hi Wildflower! It's for real, I hadn't seen those until this thread & am really excited as a few look to be close to "pure" vulcanicolas! And no, pure sangs have no scent, though some of the x flavas do & some are even a little more heat tolerant.

Those really are beautiful flowers. I'd just like to find a vulcanicola, whatever the color, seeds or a plant. They are impossible to find here. Maybe Strybing Arboretum????

Hi Karyn, Strybing has them, but they were all sick when I was there in April. I'm working on getting rooted cuttings of the #621 vulc hybrid they have though. One of the nurseries here in Oregon may still a healthy one.

What was wrong with them when you were there? I love Strybing but haven't been in quite a while. I'd love to go back but who knows when I'll be near San Francisco again. I'd be in heaven if I could manage to be there during one of their plant sales. I can dream : ) I hope you're able to get the plant John.
