Darn the luck Kristy,
My eyes are closed and I can see the purple brug, Its amazing. Can you see It? The center start with a light purple and flares out to the outer edges to a dark purple with a sweet smell.

Someone had posted a link a while back on a german website. I don't have time to look for it right now but I think it was in the post with the pics that were photoshopped for fun one day but then they put the link to where they showed the lavender ones. I'll try to find it tonight when I get home if you don't see it.

Hmmn, what are import regulations like for brugs? I'm wondering, I have a sister in Austria, and friends and family in Denmark. Something to chew on.

I don't know. In my book, that brug is a shade of purple. Definitely something to drool over, as were most of those brugs. What a fantastic collection!

I can't look at that website again without wearing a bib, lol. They are all great looking brugs and really usual stuff too.

Just a confused but sweet little old lady, lol.

Several years back I acquired seeds through swap for this plant. I was told it was a double flowered purple brugsmania. As I recall, I started the seeds indoors under lights in February (zone 5). Seeds germinated easily in 4-5 days. I had 3 nice seedlings and I planted them out in May. They quickly reached a height of 4'+, had several wonderful blooms and by the end of the season had a trunk base of 3" to 4" in diameter. As I was cleaning out some of my computer files I ran across the photo I had taken. I thought "I want to grow those again". So I started searching this forum, but could find very few sources and I happened to find this post about there are no purple brugs. I guess I always thought Datura was more a creeping viney plant, whiles brugs were a stocky woody plant.

Well, anyway, perhaps I should have started my own post, but even if this is Datura, can anyone suggest a source where I can get seeds for a variety like this?

Never mind my above post except for identification that this is a datura. Before posting I searched the web and eBay for Brugmania and came up with very little to match the flower/plant I was looking for. However, I have gone back to eBay and in searching for Datura there is one called Purple Queen Double that looks very similar and says it gets 4'. So this would be a tall tree like plant with downward hanging flowers? (That's what my plants were like and what I'm looking for -- not one that is creeping with upfacing flowers.)

Some Datura have somwhat downward hanging flowers. My Yellow sticks out to the side and can hang down some if it is a large flower. Your flower looks like a datura to me but I will let others with more experience answer. Not all are of a spreading habit either. Mine is more like a skinny short tree. I guess it depends on where it is grown. Mine is in a pot.

That's definitely a datura. Most of the double and triple varieties that I have grown have pendant blooms. The buds start out pointing upwards or to the side but I guess maybe it's the weight of the flower causes them to hang.

That purple Datura looks like "black currant swirl". Seeds are available from JUNG"S catalog.

Seeds are available here, LOL. I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be willing to part with a few, for a sase. I have some double, and triple purple.
