Identity of evergreen oak near Livermore/Dublin

Iris GW

I'm visiting my mother and am naturally curious ... she has a good sized apparently evergreen oak (and there are others planted as street trees in the neighborhood).

The leaves are dark green, lustrous (but not glossy) on top and pale green on the back. They have a pointed tip and a rounded base, are about 2.5 inches long and have no teeth for the most part and no lobes (although I did find one with very faint waves on one edge - you know there is always that one odd leaf and you need many leaves to see all the forms!).

The acorns are long and slender - an inch or a little more; they have scaly caps that cover 1/2 or a bit more of the acorn itself. There can be one or two acorns attached on the branch at the same point.

Thanks for any help you can give in identifying this.
