Hong, are you using photobucket? It's a free photo hosting website. If not, then go to photobucket.com, set up a free account, upload your pics, then click on the lil box under each pic you want to post. Then go to bottome of page and click on "generate html". A new page will open, copy what's in the first box, and paste it into your post here.

I'll try to help you! :) Go to:

Register (join now link) & then go to 'My Album' and in the upper right hand corner are the words 'Browse' within a light gray box. Click on that & it will open up the pictures you want to upload from your computer. Choose the picture you want to upload & click 'open' - once that's done - then click the word 'upload' which should be in blue. It will then 'upload' your pic to photobucket.com. Once done - click on 'My Album' at the top of the page - also in blue. That will then take you to your main page. Underneath the piture you will see a little white box - use your cursor and check it. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page & click on 'Generate HTML and IMG code.' This will take you to the next page where you can copy the first box - which I feel is the best & it's a clickable pic. It says this 'HTML clickable thumbnails for Ebay, Livejournal, MySpace, etc. - recommended.' Once done add that entire copied portion into your post on Gardenweb & the picture will hopefully be there. :) You may have to try a couple of times - but you can do it!! :) This may sound a little complicated as I'm not that great of a teacher - but it's really not! You'll be a PRO in no time! If anyone else can help hong out or I've missed something, please post! Hope it works out for you hong!

What is the pretty blue flowering plant in the second picture! It's a 'wowie!' I like your 'Clematis' too! Very nice! Is it the 'Monte Cassino' or 'Ernest Markham?' It sort of reminds me of 'Pink Champagne' too. If not any of these three - what's the name of it?

the bl flowers are rhodendron. do you know what the huge leaves plant are? See the big Japanese Maple, it drop seed over the wall, now I have ton of JM babies.

The Rhododendron is very nice! I've never tried them - but I have to admit, your's is great! Very nice blue color! Never gotten into JM's either! lol! Never find the time with doing brugs, dats, and the numerous others I tend to. I may have to 'open' myself to a few new varieties of plants! lol!

Let me know if you want the JP, they only baby right now; although, they seem to grow fast. The Rhodendron, I don't know how to propagate them but I can look in to it. Maybe Karyn knows, she knows a lot about plants.

Beautiful pics Hong. I love the blue ones too but don't think they will grow well here.

That is my question too! It came up couple months ago, I thought it was a weed, I was going to pull it out, until I saw the flower bud. There are a lot of red robins and blue jays in my yard, I think sometime they plants seed in my flower bed. I found a wisteria plant and a peach seedling yesterday in the flower bed, any one want them?

Kristy, I think you could grow rhodendron in TX, but it need to be in the shade. All mine are in the morning sun evening shade. The weather here gets pretty hot in the summer.

Absolutely, I like to "shown off" ;)

Your and mine Rho are probably are the same type. I just love them, because they are so easy to take care of. I have six but the last gardenner kill one, it was Marrie de montague. I have not able to find that Rho again! she was a beautiful bush, the flower is ruby red.

Everything looks great!!!! Gosh I guess I better get my BA out there and get busy ...about the only thing worthy of a pic around here is a tub of salad greens...LOL

Great pics Hong, thanks for sharing them with us! About propigating the rhodie...I've done this before and it was too easy. Lay a rock down over one of the lower branches where it touches the ground and cover it all with a little dirt and a thick pile of mulch. In a year you'll have a mass or roots and can cut off from the mother plant.

Description
Bear's breeches is a very ornamental herbaceous perennial with large shiny dark green leaves. The plant grows in a clump about 5' (1.5 m) tall, with slightly less spread. The leaves can be up to 3 ft (1 m) long, with deep cuts, although there's quite a bit of variation among individual leaves. Each lobe is tipped with a soft (not sharp) spine. In late summer, bear's breeches blooms with creamy white to slightly pink or purplish flowers on dramatically tall, erect stalks held way above the foliage.

Location
Acanthus mollis is native to the Mediterranean region of northern Africa and southwestern Europe.

Culture
Bear's breeches performs best in loose, average to rich soil. It tolerates moderately dry conditions once established.
Light: Bear's breeches can be grown in full sun to partial shade.
Moisture: Bear's breeches does not tolerate constantly wet soil. Grow this perennial in well drained, but moist soil.
Hardiness: USDA Zones 7-10.
Propagation: Propagate with 2-3 in (5-8 cm) root cuttings taken in spring. Fresh seed will germinate in a month or so.

Usage
Acanthus stands out in a bed of ferns or hostas, providing contrast with its darker color, greater size, and complex texture. It is a stately specimen in a courtyard garden. Some of the dignity that seems inherent in this plant might stem from its use in the ornamentation of classical Greek artwork and Corinthian columns! Probably because of its classical background, or perhaps because of the sculptural nature of the plant, it imposes an air of formality. Certainly it deserves a place of honor on the grounds of your palace!

Features
With bold textured large leaves, and a tall, imposing flower spike, bear's breeches makes a fine specimen planting in a mixed border or in a stand alone grouping of 3 to 5 plants. Beware, though - It will continue to expand and invade its surrounding area, and every little piece of root that gets broken off is likely to start a new plant.

Great pictures Hong! I like your Bear Breeches. Several years ago, I had one in another house I lived in and immediately took out the plant because I didn't like it. Now, I wanted one badly and got one at a plant sale in Descanso Gardens last weekend -- talk about being fickled! It'll be nice to see more of your pictures in the near future, now that you know how to post!

My neighbor just planted some azaleas so I'll see if his live or not then I might try a Rhodie. I think they have about the same requirements.
