I got some new plants yesterday. This first one, I hope someone can identify. The others, I know they're Haworthias, just not which. And check out my green lithops!

Leuchtenbergia principis is your first cactus plant.

#2 = Haworthia veinosa tesselata

#4 = Haworthia limifolia (an early favorite of mine looks like living sculpture to me)

Mike - thanks, I'm really hoping the perlite works. I just picked up a bag from Lowes and will give it a go tomorrow when I get home from class. Sharron - I hear ya, believe me, I'm paranoid too. I'm hoping my sofa table will be done tomorrow and I can start bringing some of my plants in. (Right now it's 49 degrees out - within tolerance levels, but still makes me nervous.) Every day I check them, afraid of what I might find. I, too, am emotionally attached! Isn't it funny how we get that way over our plants? (I still get a little upset when I look at pictures of some of my plants that have since "passed on.") *CG*

yup, thats a mango seedling treefrog, thanks. Im in the smack center of CA in Fresno. I live in the central valley where we get LONG dry summers (typically above 110 degrees) and cool, short, wet winters (Dec and half of Jan). So far, we've had a couple of frosty mornings, but nothing to hard to protect any plants. There is only a bit of damage to dypsis lutescens, majesty palm, hibiscus and bouganvillea. Temperatures begin to rise quickly begining this first week of January so there is minimal danger for any more damage than what is shown in the pics above.

In the Diseases forum I've been seeing a lot of leaf mold (Cladosporium)... if you turn over the yellowing leaves, there are often little fuzzy masses of spores under the yellow areas. It likes very warm, humid conditions, and I'm guessing this is just turning out to be a good year for it. :) Treatment for leaf mold is about the same as for early blight -- pull off infected leaves, spray chlorothalonil, mulch, and eliminate old plant debris. In addition, increase air circulation in the plant as much as you can (that'll help with grey mold too). At least it doesn't kill plants, as it needs living tissue to feed off of. I'm all for pump sprayers; I bought one for $15 at the hardware store, just a two-gallon dealie with a wand and a brass nozzle, and it's been great for getting a fine mist. You can even point it upward to get the undersides of leaves. I'd never use a spray bottle or hose-end sprayer now. --Alison

Hmmm. Jane, I bet you mine are knock-offs. They are thick and don't all sit well (by that, I mean, stack nicely) when stacked one on top of the other. I did a search using the Royal Norfolk name and apparently they come in the green you saw and pink too. For the dinner plate, I like our color best though. It's really not yellow, but more of a basket color, don't you think? I plan to add pastels to the table through the use of salad plates, fruit bowls, napkins, etc. I'm thrilled I found them.

The third may be Haworthia fasciata. It is not the similar looking H. attenuata because this plant has smooth inner leaf faces.

The last one is a Lithops. Do not water until the outer leaves have been resorbed. Research cultivation, they can be difficult.

I agree with the other identifications. Happy growing!

A slight correction on the second. It is Haworthia venosa ssp. tesselata.

Nice haul!

I agree on most of the IDs given...another slight correction...Haworthia venosa ssp. tessellata (though you will find info using many spellings).

#3 looks like a young Haworthia coarctata variety (perhaps var. coarctata) to me.
