way off topic, my Daughter

I know I have mentioned several times that my daughter's high school play was coming up. It started last night and they are doing "Harvey" as in the old movie about the invisible bunny. My daughter is playing Veta Louise Simmons, the female lead. Dave in Nova this is why you cherish those sleepless nights, before you know it she will be a high school senior ready to make her mark on the world.

I fixed my sister up on a blind date with a guy from another town.He didnt want to get serious neither did she.Well,,,they married and had two kids but there was turmoil from the start.After about 20 years of marriage it ended in a horrible divorce. She was tired of supporting him and didnt care to support his laziness for the rest of her life.She gave him the 5 bedroom house and many other things and she moved into a tiny rental.SHE owns a biz and when they went to court the judge made her pay 1500 a month alimony to HIM!!!!! She was diagnosed with MS and is trying to get the alimony reduced but the lawyer says he(lawyer) has MS too and its no big deal! Oh the lawyer is a relative to EX husband. She is going back to court soon pray that an honest judge will help her out. Thats my story,I guess it could have had a happier ending,Im sure some do. I just pray my sister get some happiness and health back in her life.

Good for you Lucy! Hubby had all my quarters raided out of the jar. I thought he had found a slot machine someplace til he told me he had been using the in the ice dispenser for bags of ice to take fishing. Got a gold dollar coin if you need it. Evidently thats what the machine gives as change if you use bills thus all the missing quarters.

Kat, I wish your mother can find peace in the nursing home. My mother found peace in the Nursing home she went to for the last 6 months of her life. My mother passed this last New Year's Eve. She was suffering from liver failure and congestive heart failure. It tore us up to have to place her in the nursing home but neither my sisters or I had the room or the financal ability to take care of her.Just make sure your tell her that you love her as many times as you can. I still find myself wanting to call my mom and tell her something. This May I met two women on my tour bus at the Region 12 regional that knew my mother and grandmother when she lived in GA. as a young woman. I sat and talked with them for the time it took us to go from one garden to another and I had to tell them that she had passed away a few months earlier. I wish I could have shared that with my mom, it would have made her so happy to know that her friends were still thinking of her, friends that she hadn't seen in over 40 years.

I have never done anything like writing but I have photographed people in mirrors where I had to contend with flash and keeping the photographer out of the image. Ideally I would set my camera on a tripod, increase the ISO as high as I could without creating graininess (noise), then I would shoot at a slow shutter speed and try to do it using available light (without using a flash). Assuming she does not have the type of cameras I have, I would suggest she shoot from the side to keep the shooter and flash out of the shot. Even so I would expect some flare from the camera's on board flash. If possible, use an external flash and bounce it off the ceiling. If she has a point and shoot camera and no external flash, I would try to turn off the camera's on board flash and use a flood light, or a work light or bright lamp or similar and again, aim it at the ceiling or position it where the light is best and shadows are minimal. If there is a window, try to shoot so that the natural light from the window is not reflected in the shot. It will be very distracting. If you must shoot so that the window is visable, draw the blinds or better yet, shoot at night. Lastly, again assuming she has a digital camera, experiment with a few shots and then go look at them on the computer and go back and adjust the lighting and her position, then shoot some more. Shoot LOTS of shots (50 or more). Hopefully she has a camera with at least 10MP and access to photo editing software because she will no doubt want to crop and edit her best shots. And if she has attached the mirrors on the wall with those little postage stamp sized two-sided tape, try using dental floss to saw through the tape. And take your time. That stuff is hard to get through but if she tries to pry them off she will probably break more than she doesn't. Good luck. Dave

Mary you put the whole parenthood in great words. When you look back after your child is not a child anymore. Maybe has her own already. All you see is the good things. Remember the great memories and laugh about the sleepless nights.

Congrats to your DD, the actress, and to you as well Mary! It's great when kids get involved in something creative. My kids used to laugh at me because I saved their "artwork" from school. Now my DD is doing that with her three, LOL! Yep, they grow up too fast!

Thank you to everyone for the kind words. I think she is pretty special (I know I am biased) It was funny the other day she and the male lead were interviewed on the news, I thought she was going to lean over and tell the news anchor that she wanted his job (he was asking about their future plans) Kylie, they rehearsed for about 2 months before the show began. The kids also build their own sets, wished I could say they were really good at costuming, but they are getting there. I have heard that one of my daughters many talents is climbing scaffolding in high heels. I am so glad I have never seen that!

lol@ the news anchor thing! Kids will say anything...I still shutter to think what my oldest son said when he was little and called in to the radio station to supposedly say what he wanted for xmas! They made the mistake of asking him if he thought santa was real and he told everyone in town on the air that "No, Santa was fake and it was really his parents"!! lol.
