I have a plant that I recieved for valentines day. My boyfriend doesn't understand how I could be so gaga over such an ugly plant but I just love it. It came with out leaves of course but it has been putting them on without any hesitation. It seems like a really tough plant. I am at work now or I would post a pic of it. I really like it and cant wait for blooms!!

I got 2 different kinds a few months ago and they look like they are doing good and growing new leaves but I accidentally bumped one of them and it came out of the pot looking like it had no roots. I hope its ok.

SUPER EASY to germinate. Fast growers. I had several in terra cotta pots out on my porch but they got wet during a rain/wind storm in January and the cold & wet conditions made them all rot. sad story. I might just go to Home Depot and but a few one gallon plants instead of growing from seed again.

Hi this is my first time on the brug forum..but I just started growing adeniums from seed...I have 25 sprouts..and they DO have cute bottoms..LOL

They need bottom heat, and the seeds must be fresh, and soak them for four hours before planting. The seeds must be planted horizontally...and part of the seed must be peeking out of the dirt...so I actually just put mine ontop of the dirt and they did fine.

They like HUMID conditions, so use a dome cover, or some saran wrap with some air holes...but be careful if they are too wet they WILL rott.

I hope this helps some..it will take 2-3 years from seed to see blooms, and if you google them you will find a lot of info.

Are you sure that you didn't break the roots? It definitely shoukd have them. You might want to provide bottom heat to encourage root development. I have several adeniums and every time I repot them I lift them about an inch higher so that you can appreciate the "fat bottom". lol

Lol, I might have broke the roots. It looked like some where there when I potted it up but just don't know. It seemed to be seated more firmly today so maybe they are growing some now. It has new healthy looking leaves so I guess its ok.
