Pruning advice needed for young apple tree
Comments (3)I suggest you pinch back all but your leading bud at top of tree to maintain central leader and the dominance of the bud going most straight. You can let the rest of the tree grow for now as long as nothing threatens the dominance of the leader....See MoreYoung Baobab help!
Comments (3)Thanks ,I didn't think about posting on a succulent forum. The mix it's in is about 50% succulent soil and 50% sand. It drains well and I've never had root rot to my knowledge. The thing actually flourished this past year. I had to cut it back substantially. Thanks for the advice. I'll post over by the cactus folks....See MoreYoung south texas couple needs advice!
Comments (5)Your dealer is the most important....that is VERY TRUE...but your manufacturer is important as well...I would suggest ya'll to take a look at Deer Valley...we did our homework before we bought ours and I'm sure glad we did.Go to the Deer Valley homebuilders website and click on the "Why Deer Valley" section and compare their construction components to others and you'll find their hard to beat. We live in North Central Arkansas and have been in our home for about a month now and we haven't had a single issue.WE LOVE OUR HOME!...You will spend a little more for the quality you will receive but it will pay off in the long run.Energy efficiency was paramount to us and is really the main factor in our decision. Don't base your decision on what you can see...what you can't see is what's most important... We wish ya'll luck and hope ya'll have a very pleasant home buying experience... take your time and if there's anything we can help with let us know.I will check back here for updates...good luck!...See MoreNeed Some Advice On Two Young Maples Please
Comments (3)You can pot up in mid to late fall if you like, as the leaves drop. I am not familiar with the soil mix you refer to but as long as it is very barky and textural, it should be OK. The trees are a little young to go untended outdoors all winter unless in a very mild winter climate. You don't want to keep them indoors but they should be kept somewhere that stays just above freezing. As to 'maintaining their shape", the Red Filigree will naturally attain an umbrella shape but unless you want that umbrella to form very low to the ground, I'd consider staking the tree upright for a season or so. Just until the main stem (future trunk) attains a more upright habit and a somewhat taller stature. The MY has its own unique form and I wouldn't do anything to it. It will slowly elongate and develop additional stems/short branches with those dense clusters of leaves. The mature form of that cultivar is rather stubby and asymmetrical and your baby is clearly showing those characteristics. IMO, both trees are too young to be planted outdoors any time soon. Those look only like 1 year grafts and I'd prefer to have them grow on in containers where I could monitor them closely for at last a couple more growing seasons before planting inground....See Moregreenish_thumbs
