Need a name for this Kalanchoe which looks like K. tomentosa but with leaf arrangement unlike that plant. It is sometimes a variegate, and was sent by Jeff Harris some years ago. It is in bloom. Yale

I believe this Kalanchoe is a hybrid of K. tomentosa x K. millotii. It has mistakenly been called Kalanchoe 'Behartii' (thinking it was K. beharensis x K. millotii)-besides, using a Latinized name for a cultivar name, not valid. They are selling it at the box stores as K. beharensis (incorrect). As far as I know, no cultivar name has been given for it.

I believe you have one of these in your Fotki album already, Yale...as Kalanchoe 'Behartii'.

This is just an idea, but it looks like Flour Dust Plant, Kalanchoe pumila. That's a spreading plant with the lobed, kind of waxy or leathery leaves like the one in the pic. If I'm right, try taking a leaf cutting; it produces several new plants along the leaf margin, not at the stem side where cuttings taken from echeverias etc. produce their new plants. Good luck with it.

Erin, That's an etiolated 'Gollum'. All you have to do is Google pictures of each. Aside from the two plants being in two different genera, but in the same plant family as your jade is (the Crassulaceae), the Kalanchoe and Cotyledon look different and flower differently. Those are the main differences, unless I'm missing the point of your question.

Thanks Rosemarie for the help. If named, it should be one of those K. x something names?

An easily grown plant Jeff, and the flower looks like K. tetraphylla, with simple hairs (photo unfortunately makes some look glandular). Yale
