My Xmas Cactus is Blooming Now

I have 3 Xmas Cactus and they are all blooming now, I have the "real" Xmas Cactus and they just started blooming 2 weeks ago. My Mother has 2 Thanksgiving Cactus and they bloomed in November and they are also blooming now.

Is this not unusual????

Not unusual.
My Christmas Cacti just started a second, though less prolific, bloom.

Hi Enjoying,

Hasn't happened to me, but I've had friends who had holiday cactus (Thanksgiving or Xmas) that bloomed 2 even 3 times a year. She used to refer to them as perverts, teasing that they must be having sex all the time to be blooming so often. Enjoy.

I've suspected that it's when conditions are particularly suited to them, that they have all they need to re-bloom.

Usually my TCs are on a table or counter that get either morning or evening sun, but not both. Then they get bright indirect light the rest of the day. They've done well. But I had a couple of pots of clippings and pruned back stems that were doing poorly. I had decided they were not likely to make it and I put them on the lower shelf of a plant cart. That plant on the far right of that bottom shelf was the worst - but I am amazed at how it bounced back so well. I need to rotate these plants, but that's not a problem. I'll have to watch them this summer during our heavy rains. They are in orchid bark with perlite and a bit of soil mixed in, but the rains may still be too much for them. Here's the other side of the cart - the east side where morning sun hits. I, too, have to treat my plants differently in summers and winters, but it's an entirely different set of issues. Fingers crossed for continued success here.

'I did say Christmas cactus but meant to say Thanksgiving cactus.' When I saw the picture, I knew what you meant. :-) Weekly watering for the most part, short day window sun with many partly to cloudy days. The top of the 511 does get a little dry this time of year but the plants don't seem to mind. The Perched water level must supply enough moisture between watering. One already has a new home as soon as it's built. ;-) Thanks for the kind words. You folks have some nice-looking plants also.

Hi Yes, my thanksgiving and real christmas cactus are all in bloom also...but one thing I have notice is the blooms are alot bigger this time, then before christmas....heres pics taken today.....

Very pretty Linda...nice to see blooms this late in the season I'm sure. I had a few buds a few weeks ago but they're all done now.

5/21/18 and the Christmas Cactus is blooming the most flowers I have ever seen! Live in NH, plant is obviously inside, gets pretty much full indirect sun light daily.
