I'm drooling...

Okay, I admit it. I am not one who usually drools. I am also not one who usually covets things. Truly. I now am one of the ones who does both. Yep. I admit it. I want a new macro lens. I have been spending so much time checking out reviews, prices, etc. on this one lens that my eyes hurt. ARGH! DH said to me, "Start saving!" (I'd told him that perhaps I'll just get the lesser lens for now for my camera...the next one 'up' from my current macro isn't too costly).

So, does anyone out there use the Canon 65mm macro? hmmmm? Am I the only one drooling? ;P

CalSherry who needs a lot of tissue due to the drooling and is busy with hundreds (yes!) of PVS larvae, numbers of Monarch larvae, god-only knows how many PL and WCL larvae (I haven't even thought about COUNTING!), some GF larvae...32 days of Kindergarten to teach, and dying to be out in the garden taking PICTURES!!!!...

Oh, Jmcat...if you had to clean the sheer quantity of larvae frass and feed the mouths I'm feeding after dealing with 5-, 6-, and two 7-year olds (31 of them in my own class not to mention 31 in the class I help out in), not to mention the assorted critters of the greater-than-two-legged-kind let me tell you, I don't think ladobe is going to be toooooo picky about what I call the 'butts.' Oh, speaking of butts, there's THAT aspect of Kindergarten as well, you know (or maybe you don't?) as I am about all out of extra clothes for the children who have had accidents this past week (I keep a supply in my classroom)...so, needless to say, ...

Aluminum can be painted, but you have to be very careful about the paint. If it's sprayed on, it would be a very thin coating and unlikely to afffect tollerances for setting in bolts for assembly. Perhaps prime and light first coat it first, then finish coat after the frame is assembled, before the polycarb is installed. If you don't have the means to powder coat aluminum, the next best is the right primer and paint and for that, I honestly don't know of any that would do a better job than Krylon acrylic. Then, you could give it a satin finish, which covers better than gloss and has a more elegant look to it. But the cost might be prohivitive- or perhaps not. If $50- 60.00 of Krylon would make that much of an asthetic difference for you and the appearance of your property, it might be worth the extra cost. Otherwise, just hit the frame pieces with a good metal polish before you assemble it. If nothing else, it would delay discoloration and pitting, especially if you are near the ocean. A garden GH can add value to a home while giving pleasure to its owner, or reduce it, depending on how well it compliments, or detracts from the appearance of the whole, so only you can know what is best for your home, in your neighborhood.

Nice looking, but not sleek or sporty like the old classic Camaros. Kinda 'fat' in the body lines, which I guess would match up with the body lines of a lot of the baby boomers that might be wanting to buy it. LOL My mom had a 1967 Mustang. My brother restored cars, so had a whole string of Corvettes, including a 67 split window that was featured on some car magazines. He had a blower on it at one point, and got to run the car on the track at Indy. In my pre-marriage days, I was the queen of Armor-All and q-tips to get the cars ready for showing at McCormick Place in Chicago every year. Be sure to post a pix if you get one, Faron - with you behind the wheel!

Reno I have to say - I get such a kick out of you! You really are an inspiration Now I'll have to post the fabric I picked up in NYC this weekend & my upolostering project - Club chair & ottoman - I think I can do the base of chair & all ottoman but don't think I want to try to make slipcovers for the cushions I do need your help & inspiration - I think you were with me when I went fabric hunting! Awww...he's so cute!!

I want a new camera...my old-ish Nikon Coolpix is great but two years ago I bought a new long/macro lens for the Pentax film body--and that same day, it DIED. *sob*!!

Sooo...if anyone has a nice digital out there and is upgrading, lemme know.... :)

My Asclepias speciosa is up and dense early on this year; sure hope I get Monarchs this year to eat it down!

Tdogmom--You are AMAZING! Dealing with all of those kindergarteners--what a huge classroom. The largest class I've ever had was 27 Freshman Honors students and that was tricky for me...can't imagine kindergarteners!! EEK!

You totally deserve that macrolens!

Well, I just got the Visa bill for the theatre tix (we have season tix for the Broadway season here) so it will definitely be awhile before I can get that lens. Yeah, 31 little bodies is a drain on my old body but in some ways it keeps me young. When I taught middle school math my largest class was 36 (I had six classes/day). Hubby retired when his largest class went up to 44 (he taught middle school history). The other night I was teaching a math class to the incoming K parents and one of the dads was a former student of mine from my middle school teaching days. He came in while I was putting away the paintings from earlier in the day and said, "I bet you don't remember me." I looked at him for about three seconds and then said, "Joseph." He almost fell over, saying, "My wife said there was NO way you'd remember me!" Ha! I could tell him a LOT of stuff I remembered but didn't want to embarrass him. tee-hee! His son will be in my class next year. :) Joseph now teaches high school history and has been teaching for five years. Now THAT makes me feel old.

I'm drooling...
