Benefits of workin' at the library,

I was passing out the paychex today and passed thru the newbooks processing dept, and oooooo ooooo oooo guess what I found sitting my my friends desk,

He was processing this totally awesome set of books (really 'xpensive too prolly).

One was titled SEEDS, one was FRUITS and one was something else and course, I got all excited about the seeds book, so he said he'd put a hold on it for me and when he's done processing it they'll lemme know and I get to be the first one to check it out.

so when I get it, Ill tell you guys about it.

You should go down to Beltsville, MD and visit the National Agricultural Library. That is a wonderful place, such fabulous collections and they've got artwork and pie cases and all sorts of useful books and periodicals.

I work in a library, too, and it is fun to see all the new books that come out.

Of course, the flip side of that is the usual complaint... too many books, not enough time, lol!

By the way, when I saw the title I was wondering what you were going to post - I thought maybe the staff at the library drank a lot of milk or something, lol!

Irawon, pleased to have another "word" person to bat meanings back and forth! I have Stuart Asch's Stiff Upper Lip......another body part reference, but acceptable in polite circles. Thanks for the picture of your Ice Cream. It is a low spreading medium hosta, right? I can always go for such a neat plant. With Heart And Soul, I have several other "heart" types....which are what I call small...or they are so far anyway. Heartache (medium), Dear Heart, Happy Hearts, Cheatin Heart, Glass Heart, and soon will have Faithful Heart. So Heart And Soul is a welcome addition.

BTW, the last 'Benefit Auction' I'm aware of via hostalibrary.org was for Brian Skaggs, hybridizer and originator of all of our latest fave Hosta, 'Empress Wu'. It brought his wife, Virginia, about 30k, which we're sure only put a dent into the medical expenses they incurred. Sometimes it's worth spending a little extra for a neat new Hosta from a trusted source for perhaps a true O.S. piece of one that may someday be 'special', doncha think, mebbe? hh the softie

I know it probably isn't fair, but the title turns me off. If the subject of the movie has nothing about what the title usually means, people having recreational sex, I think they could have used a different title. If it IS about that, then shame on them....good message for our teens. Not that so many of them need anyone to put the idea in their heads. It just doesn't need to be made to seem acceptable. That said, sorry if I offended anyone, I hope you and your friend have a terrific movie date, Oklmoni. I wish I had someone to go see The Help with, when it comes out. It has been quite a while since I read the book, so am going to see if I can get it from the library and re-read it.

sometimes it takes a couple search term changes to find good pix ... of course.. with plants.. the latin REALLY helps ... one other trick with what i call telephone pole trees .. is to add FOREST after the latin name ... now that really show future potential .. in tree time ... lol ... but.. in this case.. its an epic fail ... lol ... go figure : https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Araucaria+heterophylla+forest&t=ffcm&iar=images&iax=images&ia=images its interesting.. in the pix.. because you can see major differences in growth indoors vs outdoors .... its kind of a weepy side branch indoors.. while in full sun the side branches seem to stand upwards ... im not sure if its different types... or if its the difference in vigor ... one showing tolerance of low indoor light.. versus full sun vigor ... ken

I don't work at a library, but have volunteered for the annual book sale & love shopping it! What a treasure trove of great stuff! If your local library or other organization does a book sale think about volunteering-you'll see such interesting stuff, & the community benefits too! What a win-win situation! I've also met such great people

I love the library, especially in the middle of winter. Ahhh... so many books, so little time! I don't think I've ever gone to sections other than gardening/landscaping. :O)

You should though Trudi, I found out about you in a book from the library. Actually I found gardenweb that way and so forth. It was a book about gardening in the Midwest and I really liked the authors sense of humor and looked up many of the links she gave in the end.
I've been meaning to make a trip to the library and get more gardening books. The color helps during the winter and dreaming about my wintersowing.

Trudi..your Wintersown.org website is great! Full of information for first time WS..I just told my son about it tonight. He loves flowers but plants them and forgets they need watered regularly..He's got the perfect deck to keep stuff that he WS..deer around there but they can't climb those steep stairs! Haven't seen anything but deer and birds and squirrels around there.
