Heard on the radio Job Lot in MA/Ri has the 2011 burpee seeds in!!

Thank you! Great way to start off my first year of winter sowing since I was a child. We are a family of two senior citizens and do not usually purchase foods in containers large enough to use. I did note 4" deep roaster pans at Job Lot for .90 each - is this a good price? Now,

What is Job Lot? Maybe something like Big Lots?

Well, all i can say is: Foresight is much better than hindsight! Couldn't anybody see through the plans and ideas of the "Golden Boy" who was running for President? Was i the only one? Any way, somebody had better figger out how to run their machinery on cow manure, because fuel will probably be $10, by next year! Also, you farmer folk will probably be commanded by the Feds, on how and what to plant, and the Govment will dictate how much money you will get for your crops! Corporate (sic) govment troops will be out there enforcing the laws, and i can hear a giant "sucking sound", as it all goes down the drains!

Thanks for the seed alert. I bought only 2 pkt. of the purple alyssum seeds a few weeks ago..It was hard not to go crazy and buy more and I was good..remembered all those seeds at home that I need to plant or trade off.

I would like some for a SASBE, the only thing I have for trade now is Black hollyhock. I have one of these plants that I purchased at a local nursery...but my dogs have squished it into the ground. Just to guarantee I have one next year I'd love to winter sow some. I'm new to this forum so please let me know how we exchange addresses. Thanks so much for offering them!

Job Lot...Big Lots...Odd Lots - they're pretty much the same wherever they are. Here in New England they're Ocean State Job Lot, named for Rhode Island which is the Ocean State. That's where the chain originated.

Meadows, I think Costco carrys the pans in a5 pack for about 75 cents each....

Thank you x2 ontheteam -once for the seed alert and once for the Costco tip. The Job Lot in Yarmouth had a dream supply of seeds today that just happened to follow me home! We don't have a Costco on the Cape but I know I will find appropriate pans!

I am a dancing fool just thinking about this project!

I got 4 pkts each of Shasta daisy 'Alaska,' gaillardia 'Burgundy,' coreopsis 'Early Sunrise,' & Rudbeckia 'Irish Eyes.' cAROL (just1morehosta) wants me to go seed shopping for her...go ahead, just twist my arm!!

gardenunusual - if you got hooked in Hookset, does that mean I'll meet my end in Enfield?

@gardenweed - I can tell you right now it ain't ending in Enfield, that's for certain. Maybe dukin' it out in Warwick for the last packet of Strawberry Blonde sunflower seeds...

My big lots doesn't carry seeds period so she said they wouldn't get them now either.

I get pretty excited when I find a new source for local seeds. Akin's Market here is carrying Botanical Interest seeds now. They sell vitamins and organic foods among other things. I never thought to check places like that. They had a nice selection of herbs and veggies and some flowers too. Not the same seeds that a person would find at Walmart. It's nice to see something different.

The Biglots in Hamilton,NJ did not have seed either.

If you have an Amazing Savings they are cheaper than Dollar Tree when it comes to Aluminium pans of all sizes and they have a lot more plastic cover selection as well. They are not open on Sat and Frid after 2:00 p.m.

Big lots and Job lot are a lil different.. I know that Job lot is mainly selling Salvage items from MUCH larger places..like the big red box store ( Stuff that is not enough quantify for a display any longer, was slow to sell,or was returned in perfect condition. The seeds tho..they buy outright from Burpee unlike HD... so they KEEP them for sale until they are gone. Not send them back when they want to.

BigLots buys big lots of certain items cheap from the manufacturing. Agrees to buy seconds. And so fa has no seeds/outdoor stuff.
