Are these aloe cancer growth?
Comments (6)Cactusmcharris, I had also forwarded a copy of those photos to palmbob. He suggested that they were aloe cancer. These are 2 different plants. I know, it's hard to judge whether this is cancer growth by those photos - I will try to get a better photo especially of that 1st aloe (both are capitatas by the way). thx...See MoreAloe tree sick
Comments (10)Look for Soft unhealthy roots Or roots that look dehydrated. They might have rotted and then died and then dried up.. I would cut them off if you see them . Healthy roots look totally different. Some times the big guys can be bright yellow, especially on the tips. Then I would dust the roots with cinnamon ( a fungicide)let my plant rest and callus those roots in the shade , Not in dirt for several days and then replant making sure the dirt has drainage. After planting , DO NOT WATER. wait a week or at least a half week and then water. The roots if bruised in the planting process need time to heal or you introduce rot and more dead roots. If there are no roots plant and don't water till one feels resistance. I might plant it in a VERY well draining mix in a pot till it has formed roots and then plant. don't water , mist till the roots have formed. That could be a month or two.One might look at the condition of the stalk. One might need to cut the stalk back to where there is good healthy tissue. Dust with cinnamon and proceed in the pot. Some people will root tree aloes in a pot of rocks that they water. It creates a environment of hummidity and perfect drainage. It is hard to say what is going on with the trunk. The rot in the roots might have introduced a bacteria. Maybe some spraying with Draconil or Bayers 3 in 1. It is important for me to fessup that my experience comes from NON tree aloes. So I would get some people who grow tree aloes to add their experience. They are a bit different. There is a move afoot amonst the "SPLITTERS" to boot them out of the aloe family, get them listed as their own family....See Morecancer/chemotherapy gift basket
Comments (12)There is a shopping list for chemo on the breast cancer forum. I've put the link below. There are a lot of OTC pharmacy items on it. Maybe a gift card for a pharmacy would be nice. The chemo infusions can take a few hours. I pack snacks or lunch and my preferred drink. Carbonated drinks can be nice on an uncomfortable stomach. My treat is a Martinelli's sparkling cider. A little ice chest or insulated bag to take food to chemo might be nice for the gift basket - I use one of the soft sided ones. On days when my stomach feels uncomfortable and my sense of taste is off, chicken or beef soup is one of the few things that tastes good and goes down easily. But I don't know if the colon being involved puts any additional restrictions on what she can eat. The American Cancer Society has a class called Look Good Feel Better that teaches how to put on make-up including drawing on eyebrows. It is free and they provide a bag of make-up for your skin tone - cosmetic manufacturers donate the make-up and it is nice stuff. I'm not much of a make-up person but I took the class to have it in case I need to dress up for something during chemo. Someone could offer to drive her to and from that class. Only the chemo patients are to stay for the class so whoever drives should expect to bring a book or something to keep them busy for the two hours. American Cancer Society often also provides free wigs. Sometimes they have the wigs at the office. Around here, they provide a voucher and send you to a wig place. I haven't used that service because I prefer hats and scarves and also if I wanted a wig I don't need help to get it. They also often have hats or scarves. Comments (17)Ok,maybe I'm dumb but (yes, maybe a dumb butt too.LOL) I haven't figured out what not sweating under the arms would have to do with anything.Sweating "removes toxins from our bodies" and not having those toxins removed just because we use antiperspirant doesn't make sense. We sweat from all the pores in our skin, not just under the arms, and we don't use antiperspirant all over our bodies. Now,if we did then I might worry about the sweating/antiperspirant theory! It was my understanding that the antiperspirant/deodorant/cancer theory was because of the aluminum content and certain chemicals in antiperspirants.Who knows!! I don't wear a bra any more than I have to,not at all at home unless I have company.I could never sleep in one but did out of necessity when I was nursing babies. My mother slept in her bra till the day she died!LOL She didn't have breast cancer but did have a large cyst that was drained with a needle when she was about 50.Never had any more problems with it....See Morewantonamara Z8 CenTex
