I'd be guessing the 1950s during the craze for Oriental style decorations brought on by the popularity of the musical "Anna & the King of Siam." These gals have a 50s look about them. Great find and I love the colors too!

I have to thank my mother for turning me on to gardening. When I was a child, she always grew beautiful flowers & I really wasn't too impressed with them & the time & work that goes into gardening. Now that I am older than she was then, I know why she loved gardening. When gardening you can lose your troubles & bury your problems in the dirt. My mother will be 80 in Sept & doesn't garden outside much anymore but her love for dirt lives on in me. Thanks mom, Betty

We have a couple of species of dull brown or speckled geckos that are very plentiful (both indoors and out), plus anole lizards, little brown skinks, and various other small 4-legged reptiles. These little guys from Madagascar have been making inroads into the local population the last several years, though. I don't know what kind of environmental impact they will have, but I really enjoy seeing them when I'm harvesting heliconias. I suspect the only reason this one stood still for a photo op is that he was planning to try and sell me auto insurance! (non-US residents: google "Geico gecko" if you don't get the reference)
