Small tree for butterflies?

spaceman13

I was looking to add a small tree, 15'-20' high, 10'-15' wide, to my SMALL zone 6b yard. The area is full sun from mid-morning to late afternoon, with the last few hours of the day in shade.

I would of course, like it to be a host to butterflies! I would also like to "hide" a neighbors hideous monstrosity of a building. The building stands about 2 stories tall, and right on the property line, just 8 feet from my house.

I saw a lot of species will use Willow, and was wondering if the smaller Willows, such as Salix Integra "Hakuro Nishiki" would be suitable. Or perhaps some of the smaller "ornamental" cherry trees? Something else?

I'd sure like to tap into the collective experience of this Forum for some experienced opinion...What would you recomend, and why?

Thanks,

Mark
