Well, I've outsmarted myself! What to do now?

I just watched a pipevine butterfly mama lay at least two clutches of red eggs on my small pipevine (just planted last fall). It only has a few leaves on it. I have one other pipevine (also planted last summer) that has a few leaves on it but if these babies eat like other butterfly cats, there will not be near enough leaves to get them through to maturity.

Is there anyone with pipevines and no eggs who could foster these eggs/soon to be babies? Can the eggs be safely sent through the mail if adequately packed?

Well, I just looked out the window and she's still fluttering around, looking for more vines. How sad. Why didn't I plant more pipevine last fall?

Does anyone have suggestions or advice? I had no idea we even had pipevine butterflies here, just planted the vines hoping to attract them some day. Well, that I did (but too soon!)

Mary
