Looks to me that you have some very pretty Datura growing there..Not a Brugmansia.. Altho you should have some very pretty flowers before to long... Congrats!!!
There is only a Dbl. Purple Brug in the dreams of many...LOL They don't exist..
Whoever sold you the seed has mislead you.. BUT Datura is a wonderful plant and you won't find but a few here who won't find space in their gardens for it... You will be well rewarded with many blooms...

There are no purple brugs what you have are daturas.

Definitely daturas and the time frame fits. You will have some beautiful flowers very soon. Daturas don't form a Y the way brugs do. I usually grow daturas as an annual but you can keep them going over the winter if you want. Brugs, except for a very few varieties don't bloom true to the parent but daturas do. You should allow your seed pods to ripen and you'll have the same plant from the seeds you collect.

When I bought the seeds, I did not know the difference between the two, I am going to have to find the envelope, because they may have been sold to me as datura's. That clears up a lot of confusion for me, thank you so much. Now I definetely need to find a brug....lol. I am already obsessed with gesneriads and Hoya's, and I can see this being an obsession as well. Sometimes I swear it is better to be ignorant, because there are just too many wonderful plants out there.

Again a million thanks, I will post pics when it blooms, I have been hanging out here and reading through posts for a while, but never posted. Nice to know that it is quite friendly in this forum.

I love Hoya's.. I haven't grown one in 30 yrs..When I had one they were'nt so desired they were called Hindu Climbing Rope and you could get a Green on Or a Varigated one and that was about it..LOL

May I ask who you bought them off of? I had the same thing happen to me, bought dat seeds off of Ebay and they were being sold as brug/dat seeds, I was totally confused till I came here. Then I saw what brugs really were and forget it! Love at first sight, and now I'm addicted.

I also love hoyas and have about 20 in the GH. Most are still fairly small as they were started from cuttings last summer. The only one I don't care for is the rope variety. Maybe we can trade some when the weather warms up. Stick around and you'll be able to get brug cuttings from many of us this coming season. They are most definitely an addicting plant and new varieties are constantly being introduced. Not only that but if you grow brugs from seed you will sometimes get a really beautiful bloom. Brenda on this forum has grown some spectacular brugs from seed.

Thank you everyone for the compliments......It is grown under a 400W MH 18 hours a day. It has to look healthy, they are costing me small fortune....lol. I have quite a few more seeds, but wanted to make sure they would have somewhere to go before I planted them all, I don't have that much light available for them. Someone mentioned they are considered by some to be annuals, I might just have to sow a few more seeds, and put them outside for the summer.

I am easily spinnable into most webs, as long as there are some funky flowers involved( you know, hoya's, gesneriads, brugs, schlums....lol) The list is constantly getting longer.

Hey guys - I got some roses for V day - I'm gonna dig through the vase and see if I can find a "rootable" rose in there. DH rolled his eyes when I told him what I was doing. (grin) Something tells me he's not gonna buy me roses any more. (grin)

Dweeb have you ever tried orchids?
The common ones actually aren't hard to grow....I have 2 phals and 2 oncs. The oncs have some browining leaves for some reason but the phals have been really easy, one even rebloomed for me. They are always putting out new leaves, and I kind of neglect them now because they aren't in bloom but they still put out new leaves. Try one. If I can keep them alive anyone can.

Most orchids are surprisingly easy to grow. The key is learning how to ignore them. More orchids are killed with good intentions then anything else. lol

Has the flower opened up yet? im curious as to what the bloom will look like.

On the orchid note, I've suprisingly neglected both my phal and two cymbidiums into blooming for me. One even got knocked over during a stong wind and lost a lot of dirt/compost/orchid-planting-stuff and i haven't even replaced the lost dirt, its just been sitting there blooming with half of the roots exposed. The flowers last a LONG time. This one has been in bloom since mid-December and is still holding on to its flowers, except now they are getting a reddish-orange tinge to them as opposed to the white-brown color of this photo when they had just opened. I usually keep them outside under a patio all year long, but i brought this one in to enjoy the blooms inside.

That really is pretty, I love the multi colored orchids. They are amazing. The bud is not even near opening. I am assuming it will take a couple months. I will be sure to post pics. I also bought some double yellow dat's today. Flowers can be a terrible addiction.....lol.

My "suicide" plants. I gave up on those along with roses. I owned every spray, powder, foot, root feeder. . .I can't do it.

I cant' grow roses or orchids. And when I had found brugs - I started ripping stuff out for those in CA. (grin) No point for me now. (grin)

Dweeb I have some sangs that I am growing from seed. The pack had 6 seeds and I planted 3 to practice and they all sprouted but one is growing kind of funky, the stem is kind of twisted at the bottom. One had the seed coat stuck on so I tried to "help" it come off with the scissors at acidentally snipped most of the tip off,LOL..I'll se if it repairs itself. The other one wasn't standing out of the soil last time I checked. If I can get at least one decent seedling for myself I might have one to share in the spring.

These are cymbidium orchids. They can grow into quite large clumps. I am able to grow them in the ground, but i would probably lose them every ten years or so when we get those freak artic blast that gives us a bonechilling freeze, so i rather just grow them in pots, where they can live on my porch all year long. For people living in the milder SoCal, Cymbidiums are an excellent landscape plant and they are used in place of daylilies and such plants.

I've got a perfect, damp, never brutal hot, no beating sun spot for them. Right on the north side of my green room. I usually have MOSS there and the siding used to turn green. (grin)

I figure that's PERFECT for them. Not too hot, not too cold, little bit of sun, always a little damp, not wet.

I should find some seeds and test drive them, too, huh?

Would be nice to grow some sangs and give those a shot.
