'Creating' Adenium-Bonsai ....How??

I would like to attempt to train some Adenium into "bonsai" style plants. I have no idea what kind of training techniques are used by growers to get a short, fat trunk, spreading roots, and a Medusa-like rack of short branches sprouting out of the top of the trunk....sort of like a short, fat Baobab tree.

I suspect that grafting might be involved, and well as wiring/pulling branches into position.

Question:

If I grow Adenium from seedlings, can they be forced to fuse together if I plant a number of seedlings into a rigid cylinder....say 5" diameter X 8" long PVC pipe...and let them grow inside this short pipe until they get so fat that they have to fuse together, forming one, composite "trunk" with branches on top? I have seen photos of watermelons growing inside a rigid plastic box which forces the melon to take on a square shape....can this method be employed with Adenium?

Are there any books, or, web-sites that specifically deal with Adenium training methods to produce these short, fat "trees"?

Appreciate any opinions, help, and possible suggestions.

Frank
