I am a little disappointed with the latest Tropiflora Cargo Report that just came out. I mean, maybe it was a case of having to wait longer than usual between catalogs or something, as their Spring/Summer issue usually comes out between March and April, and this year was very late, but I actually did not see a single bromeliad in the new catalog that I wanted to buy except one Dyckia! I did get some ferns and a few other small things, but was a little disappointed.

Hi bihai...yes,I'd have to agree. I got a dyckia too,but not anything else on that very late "spring" addition. So I went back thru the 'back issues' on the website,and ordered some others to go along with the one new plant. I don't like paying $15 min.shiping plus $4 handling for one plant.I think Dennis has his hands full with that big operation,plus his travels around the world acquiring new plants,and the many special sales shows he puts on in Florida.Sometimes growing too fast can be a headache,and you give up a lot of what once worked so well in the past.
But they do have some nice plants that no one else seems to have. I think small to mid size businesses that keep their customer base happy is the better way to live.But I'm retired,so thats easy for me to say.Have a good day.

I agree. They go to every show in FL it seems like. They come to our spring Botanical Garden festival here in Gainesville every March, but when they come, they never bring the GOOD STUFF. I always end up buying a lot more interesting and I might also say more INEXPENSIVE bromeliads from our local Bromeliad Soctiey than I do from them, and they don't bring a lot of the cool tropical stuff I know they could. I have been to South Florida sales before where they bring a much nicer, wider selection of stuff...but they tend to "slight" us up here. I have emailed them before and mentioned the fact that there are a lot of "out of zone" gardeners up here in No Central FL that grow in the house and greenhouse who would love to get some of their better stuff up here but it seems to fall on deaf ears.
All in all though, I do usually buy from them on almost every Cargo Report and have also bought a lot from VIPP sales

Yes, the VIPP e-mail sales is my most used plant purchase opportunity,very nice plants at a fair market price.This weeks was especially tempting for me. 6 nice crypts for $10 is hard to beat,and a couple of dyckia 'silver back',and a d.'fragrans'did the trick for me! And what the heck,toss in a Billbergia and a Pitcarnia for $10 bucks more,and I shot my food budget for the week. So I eat cereal instead of steak...but I got some neat plants !

A good example of Michael's quality is a pup of an Aechmea blanchetiana 'red clone' that, out here, costs you a second mortgage. His plant? $20 and about 14" tall and 12" wide. A+!
