Getting ready! Minor detail questions...

Hi, all. I'm new to this.

I'm busy saving containers and prepping them. I also got a newbie seed packet. And I just purchased some seeds from Park's. I also just bought two big bags of soil. (Packaging said in-grown soil for veggies -- is that going to be OK?)

So I'm trying to avoid buying any containers. But I don't drink milk or soda, so I'm worried I won't have enough big ones. I'm saving those plastic "boxes" lettuce comes in. What if I cut off one long side of an orange juice container and covered it with plastic? Any other ideas? What about soup or bean cans? Thanks! This is so fun, and all I've been doing is researching info online!

Oh! I've also read conflicting advice on soil depth. If transplanting fairly early, is 3" overkill? Thoughts? Thanks!
