Open wide!!!!

I planted three minivera bulbs in a large pot-- two weeks apart. The first one is just now finishing it's blooming. The third is still pushing up its stake and should show bud breaking sometime next week. But the second has bloomed, but has only opened roughly 50-60%. The first bloom is already fading and it has become apparent that they will not fully open. They still look neat-- but what gives? Is there something it needed that it didn't get? Or is this bulb just one that behaves differently?

My Basuto's first stalk emerged 8 inches and it had like 2 inches flowers on it, that don't even totally opened. I, nevertheless, pollinated the flowers and they are developing seeds now. On the other hand, the second stalk is shooting up twice as high as the first one and already has a huge main bud. I guess, sometimes is happens, that the first shoot is weaker and the second one and third one are better because by that time the bulb is planted and has opportunity to soak up some energy and water and warmth...
I have A LOT of bulbs, so I don't get worried over these kinds of things. If one bloom fails, there will be another that will be successful. Just take care of your bulb, so it could bloom for you next year.

These bulbs can do many unexpected things. Yours seems to be a case of the bulb not having an established root system. Once the bulbs establish roots, you do not usually get this disparity of performance. I had an amaryllis hercules that I bought for my wife. It just sat there for 4 months and did nothing. I put it outside in the spring and it still did nothing. By the end of the summer, several slim leaves from several bulblets sprouted from between the bulb's scales. The bulb was firm throughout and never rotted. Go figure.

Janesylvia, I have a bathroom with a corner shower unit that (in a small space), and when installed, I opted for a door that swung both ways. This was done 5 years ago, and it turns out that the door leaks through the vertical gap, although not a ton. When I recently remodeled my master bath, I had the glass installer (a different company from the other bathroom), install a vertical strip on my corner shower unit, making the door open only out. This seal has stopped all leakage of water. In my limited eperience, it seems the vertical gasket or seal is much more likely to keep your shower from leaking. It was a little frustrating to always have a towel over the bathroom rug to absorb leaking water from the shower. (in addition to concerns over continual dampness on the floor)

Ann, I am not sure what you are describing. French doors have both doors that open. I wonder if you have a Patio door with a stationary glass light next to it. Would you be able to take a picture? I am not sure there is a way to convert something like that to a French door. Actually, there is a way but it would be cheaper to buy a french door and get installed. There would be a lot of components needed to be make a stationary glass panel a moveable door. Do you know what brand your current door is? Does your current door open to the outside or does the door swing into the house?

Is a measurement we use to predict difficult intubation (placing tube in trachea). Smaller opening = more likely difficult procedure. If having surgery with general anesthesia, this should be checked before sedation.
