Getting care packages in the mail is often the highlight of a day! I love opening packages and seeing the little extras thrown in for good measure! I cherish the little baby bulblets and plant cuttings that my friends send me... every time I look at them, I'm reminded of how fabulous, and how caring and generous that person is. For some reason, Hippeastrum and Amaryllid gardeners are a little more special than most!

Happy Birthday, and lots and lots of (((hugs))) from me. Yes, I think this forum is important for many of us. My computer is always on, and I have this forum open. If I'm around, several times a day I go to the computer and refresh the forum. I'm always anxious to see who has visited while I've been away from it. I think so many of us have similar interests, in addition to the hippis.

I don't know about everyone else, but I love to share. The more I share, the more I receive. I feel so fortunate. And again today, I purchase a couple more bulbs. HD had some boxed, some kits, and some pots. I bought a potted Ferrari and a boxed Minerva. No, I did NOT NEED them, but I wanted them. The Ferrari (if, indeed, that's what it is) has a scape 12 inches high about to open. Yippi Hippi!!!

Josie had a wonderful time today out playing in the cutting garden where I was planting roses. At this time of year there is nothing she can hurt so she had free range while I planted my roses. IT is by the street too so she got to run around(inside the deer fence) and check out anyone driving or walking by. I love my pretty girl so much!Surely the only thing better then a gordon setter is 2 of them...or more!

Since I only have one Hippi in bloom right now, these are mostly flowers I grew or found growing on my parents' farm. The last is a table arrangement from my cousin's wedding last month.

Dear Hippi Family-
Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes!! Today IS the day. Wish I could spend the day in bed, cleaning, or tending to other business, but will be spending the day entire day with one of my dogs at an event! Will collapse tonight and call it a good day! Thanks for all the flowers, they were all beautiful. Frank, the twisty purple and white bloom is fascinating.

Kristi, I want to hear about your doggie event! Sounds like a great way to spend the day! And maybe one of those amaryllis buds will pop open while you are gone.....

Josie is still working on her relationship with Hairy, our old cat. He has decided that he is not afraid of her and she is not going to keep him form enjoying time in my office with me. She barks and leaps and barks some more and almost got her nose scratched this morning! That would make her second lesson on teasing cats!

Arif! Your photo literally left my mouth hanging open in the middle of the "Ohhhhhhh!". It is frosty here this morning...and the blue and orange just took my breath away!
What are those two plants? Dang, but I would like to see your garden some day!

And Chaz, what an elegant arrangement! Do you know which dahlia that is? My dahlias always have the white tips eaten off in the garden. I Have just moved all white tipped ones to my personal garden, and out of my business cutting garden. I think (Actually 'hope') my dahlias finally frost last night. They need a nap!

Arif, your climate is the climate of my dreams! I wish I could grow all that you have in my gardens. Thank you for posting.
Liza, Thanks for the complement. From you that means quite a bit to me! I don't know the name of the dahlia. I bought the tubers in a hardware or dollar store in Wells Maine. Grew them in pots and they bloomed until the hard frost knocked'm down. I'm going to bring in the pots and hope they are not frozen deep enough to damage the tubers, if they make it I'll clean'm and send ya some! Or just pick more up next year.
The arrangement is hosta flowers, perrilla leaves, some butterfly bush, verbena bonariensis, and the dahlias. All from the gardens here even after my July disaster.

A belated, but heartfelt Happy Birthday to you, Anna! That Jewel is stunning! I understand they're fragrant, too! I'm not a huge fan of doubles, but there are a few that really send me... Jewel is one!

My next milestone Birthday isn't for a couple of years, and I can surely wait! LOL!

Chaz, I can't decide which I like more... the flower arrangement, or the vase candelabra or chandelier the arrangement is displayed in! It's a gorgeous combination that says Happy Autumn!

Arif... what a colorful view! I'm with Chaz... I'd love to have your climate, or at least your gardens! They're always so lovely and inviting! I can't wait to see new photos of your Hippi patch! I just adore the ones you've posted in the past!
