Ever order from here?

Hello. Anyone ever order from Territorial seed Co.? They have Miner's Claim for sale. What about Select Seeds? I'm thinking about getting Inca Sun from them. Also, how about Van Bourgondein Bulbs (not sure of the spelling)? Just wondering if anyone has any good/bad experiences from these companies before I place an order. Thanks!

Id like to know also, considering Miner's Claim is a real beauty! What was it going for?

Logee's has both Inca Sun and Miner's Claim. Got my Inca Sun from them. They're pretty good, nice healthy young plants.

Thank you, Sandandsun, for that compliment. It is nice to know that people have enjoyed reading about my roses even if they weren't living in such a cold zone themselves. I must say that after all these years, just that smidgeon of decreased cold to garden in is exciting to me - although you'd never know any difference from the brutal winter just past! So I had to go out onto the patio to refresh my olfactory senses regarding Kordes' Savannah, where the roses on the wagon were snugged up to the glass door over night (it's only 32 degrees out there right now.) The only wide open bloom has a damask scent to it - not very strong, but the bloom is old and it's very chilly. There are two more buds that will open if we get some sun and warmth and I'll be sure to note the type of fragrance for you when it's fresh. I did snap off the open bloom and bring it indoors but I'm afraid it is competing with the overpoweringly heavy scent of Easter's potted hyacinths which is filling my house right now! Still, sinking my nose right into the bloom, I think of the damask, old rose scent. Yum.

Oh, well, Ed, I'm cheap. (smile) I do like to shop around to make sure the price I'm paying is close to average, at least. But I do have to say that I've had excellent results buying from Sunset Meadow Daylily Farm, with many that cost $5.00. Ray and Mickey Rogers are awfully nice people, and I've seldom lost a daylily that I bought from them. To give you just one example, I got Red Volunteer from them last fall - probably two fans, but not more, and now, just one year later, I can't even count the number of fans in that clump. That is an exception, of course, but there are vendors who do sell healthy, robust fans of older daylilies at most reasonable prices. To be fair, I'll name a few more: Valley of the Daylilies, Jordan's, Wrights, New Every Morning, Aren't I Pretty (if they still are selling), Cottage Gardens, Sterrett, etc. I do buy pricey daylilies when I want them badly enough! I would even have bought Clown Parade, but was too late placing this year's order. Do any of you know anything about Maurice's daylilies in Louisiana? I found their website, with fantastic prices -- but now their site is under construction. Maybe I should offer to fix their website for a few daylilies? Nancy

I did one design with little martini glasses and olives, along with the name of our street kind of curved along the martini glass. I just made bar towels with it for our patio. Our neighbors loved it and and were so surprised when I told them where they could order fabric for their own! I did another design with pictures of a Boston Terrier and golf balls for friends who are avid golfers and also crazy about their Bostons. I made one of those fabric bowls for them, with golf balls as the feet, and gave them a yard of the fabric too. Something like that makes a great housewarming gift and you know they won't be getting the same thing from anyone else! I always plan to enter the contests but haven't found the time to do it. Kate

I have ordered from the bulb folks...Van whatever. Nice bulbs, but not one package had the correct bulbs. I wouldn't order from them again. My 2 cents worth.

Never order from Van Bourgondein, Michigan Bulb or any other of their names. They suck! Check out the vendors on Garden Watchdog before ordering. You can get reviews on pretty much any online seed/plant company.

Thanks for the info everyone. Karyn, that garden watchdog site was very helpful. Wow, Van Bourgondien had a lot of negatives I guess I won't be ordering from them, I was very tempted because they offered $25 worth of free products if you ordered $50 or more. I think I will go ahead and order Miner's claim from the one company and I'm still deciding on Inca Sun.... not that the company had a bad rep It's just that I'm not sure if I want it that bad. Has anyone grown this one? Does it really bloom continuously with less breaks than other brugs?

I had quite a few seedlings that Inca Sun was the pod parent of- they bloomed alot, not every 4 weeks but like a week or 10 days off, then bloomed again.
