How many lobes to the leaves did it have?

Careula has whitish petals with the straight bluish/purple parts on the top. The leaves are a darker green with 5 small lobes. here, the butterflies didn't really use it much as a host.

The Incarnata Maypops has a light purple flower with frilly parts on top. In the sun The Gulf frits use it, in the shade, Zebra Longwings love it. The leaves are tri lobed and they are bigger.

Incense is similiar to Maypops but it has 5 lobed leaves. Gfs use it here but the ZLWs didn't do well on it.
Miss Sherry has had success with Lady Margaret, I think. It has a reddish purple flower I think.

Suberosa grows wild here and has tiny flowers. GF use it here.

It must be Incarnata, because the leaves seemed to be a bit smaller. I couldn't understand why the GF preferred that one. I'm going to plant a few more as some of mine died in the cold winter we had. Just wanted to skip right to the one I knew they liked. Thanks for the info.

In my yard they all love the passiflora suberosa, corkystem passionvine. And as Mary said, for the zebras they prefer it in the shade.

P. incarnata is always the favorite of gulf and variegated fritillaries here - as long as there's new growth on it, the frits won't lay eggs on anything else. Well, except when I had the P. mucronata, they used it as much as P. incarnata/maypops, but P. mucronata is too tender for me to plant again.
They use P. caerulea and its many hybrids - I've got one to plant out soon called 'Indigo Dream' I think it is. Also, they use many of the P. incarnata hybrids, the most notable one being 'Incense' but I haven't found anything they like better than P. incarnata/maypops, and I've tried a lot of different passies. I planted maypop seeds last year to have more of it.
I may try 'Byron's Beauty' like Mary posted about - I never quit trying new passies!

Lady Margaret is a favorite of the Gulf Fritillaries here. I have to grow it as a potted plant and provide winter protection. The Variegated frits only use the maypops.

How did your incarnata from seed do, MissSherry? I have some seeds outside in containers but I got them sown late, so don't know if they'll come up this year. Maybe next??

They haven't come up yet, Susan, but then I'm not really expecting them to do so until it's warmer - it's warm in the day time, but still chilly at night.
It would be cheaper and more interesting to raise my own than buy more passies, 'though I'm sure I'll order a few anyway.

While we're on the subject of passies...just what color are the seeds when they're mature enough to plant? I had P. incarnata and P. caerulea here last year and had one fruit. I let it on the plant until after we got a frost, and even after I took it off the vine I let it lay around awhile without removing the seeds. When I did finally open it up, I saw that the seeds were white. Is that normal? Or were they immature? They had bumps all over them like I guess they're supposed to be and were real hard like you'd expect a seed to be and not soft/mushy. I sowed them, but it might be for nothing if they didn't have enough growing/ripening time, which it's hard to have that for certain things up here (PA). It would be neat if they were viable and they'd be a cross between the two types of passies. Um...that is possible, right?

I remember that there are crosses between P. incarnata and caerulea, but I can't remember the name of the hybrids - when I get time, I'll look it up.
When P. incarnata seeds ripen, they turn dark brown/black, Cathy - white seeds are immature, and I'm sure they'd never germinate.

Ah darn, I was hoping that they'd produce plants, but I guess I'll be out of luck. Oh well, now I know. Thanks for letting me know so I won't be looking my eyes out for the plants to come through the soil. lol Maybe some other year I'll have luck with them crossing. Of course, I suppose I'd run into the same problem, not having enough time for the the seeds to mature.
