My first blooms of the season!

This Apple Blossom is the centerpiece for my Thanksgiving dinner :-) Oh, and you can tell I tried to pollinate her yesterday. I've never tried and I've read that they don't readily accept their own pollen, but hey it's worth a shot. What have I got to lose? Nada!

This is my first time blooming a Full House. I actually like it better than I thought I would. She is my favorite of the two :-)

San Remo is going to be my next to show off. I can't wait to see everyone's pics!!!!!!!!

Oh great, she's been lost to the side of the Polinators-- the insanity is fully entrenched. ;o)

I give a lot of people on here grief about the insane amount of seeds and cross-pollinating they all do but I do it because I'm jealous-- I haven't the room. All I ask is that you please share your experiments.

Appleblossom is so common I think people are de-sensitized to her-- but when placed side-by-side to other flowers, at least my bulb, she consistently blows the competition away. In both size and coloration, I have never been disappointed. Last year's blooms on mine measure an insane 10.75 inches in diameter. The scapes required significant stake-age.

My Blushing Bride has started to show some leaves but the other two are staring back at me. They're in a south window but no sun yet. Can I force them soon with a heating pad? Would like to get blooms for Christmas.

I found that the first year with a lily, it doesn't get as tall or bloom as much as they will when they get older. Last year was my first year with lilies, and it bloomed when it was maybe 3ft tall. This year, it's already pushing 4ft and still going. I think it gets up to five ft, and it may just do that before it blooms. Kinda shocking, as it is now getting taller than the hanging basket I put up above it, which makes the hanging basket look a little silly... ha. As far as how long the blooms last, a lot longer than one day. I can't remember how long mine lasted, but if you've ever bought a cut lily bloom from the florist, that'll give you an idea. I think that lasted at least a week in the vase. I'm not familiar with your lily, but that's my experience with mine. I'm guessing the other six plants just don't have buds yet, or they don't feel like blooming this year. But seeing as how they are taller, I'm guessing maybe those bulbs were more mature and it'll be taller before blooming. It's my guess though. I'm not a lily expert, as I'm kind of a newbie myself : ) Hope that helped.

Melva if my LL grows anything like it did last year I'll have plenty of cuttings to share. I ended up putting at least 20 feet of cuttings in the compost pile last summer. Karyn

I'm still not totally convinced its GAA because of those outer petals. Have a look at this picture of mine flowering last spring and you'll note the outer petals are loose not cupped. Very pretty Larissa! Those are gorgeous and your dinner guests will be so lucky! Even though AB is very common, it remains one of my favorites too!

YEA!!! Blooms have finally arrived! And...I'm rummaging through the house to find empty pill bottles from the dogs' meds to store pollen in. I "selfed" my Night Star and both took, so I have 2 nice fat seed pods. Whenever I've tried a cybister they look like they take and abort, so I'm ready for that if it happens. So with Red Pearl, Exotica, and Pink Diamond, (and Minerva and Red Lion soon) I should have some fun crossing. Exotica makes a tone of pollen so that will be fun to play with later in the season.

They're both gorgeous! I think Ryan is right... Apple Blossom is so common that most don't take a close look anymore... but she certainly is a delicate beauty... absolutely timeless! Full House is very pretty, too... the coloring is fabulous!

Yay! One more for the side of the Pollinators! LOL! You did fine, Larissa... now, keep your fingers crossed!
