Proper Flourescent light requirements for Tillandsias

I have quite a few tillandsias which are not in full color, a bunch of ionantha that have greened up, and some new purchases. I recently installed a 48" t5 broad spectrum flourescent fixture about 36 inches above the growing station. It's been about two weeks, and I'm still not seeing any coloring up. Am I impatient, or is one fixture not sufficient? I had heard that the T5 lights are equivalent to about 4 regular flourescent grow tubes, so assumed this would be sufficient.

Anyone have experience with this type of setup? Do I need to add another bulb? Do the plants need to be closer? Can I augment with additional bulbs instead of moving them closer?

How long should it take plants to color up when they are getting enough light? Other than color, they are quite happy, many have gone into bloom recently, and everyone has healthy growth patterns and offsets.
