What a gorgeous fix! Love especially the colors, foilage in the first picture.

Barb now you know this is more then a fix. You send me SHOPPING roflmao.

I am almost out the door to go do some lol

Walmart is waiting. So is Lowes and HD...all a little round trip.

I am sure I find new things for the picture of the day roflmao

Karen we were typing at the same time. LOL Thank you for the nice comments. I grew some of them from seed others I bought. I am so happy to hear they open only so far. That speciman sure gets huge. I am trying to root some in water to share this spring and am failing at it. Darn! They just rot in water. The pros say they are easy to do. My foot they are. I will keep trying till I get it right. Wow 20's and surviving that is a tough abuliton must of been all the food you gave it this summer. LOL Barb

Hi all.... Thank you for appreciating the beauty of all my flowers...my 2 favorite flowers in the world are roses and lilies. I am glad you like the dahlias too...they were huge, some measured nearly 11 inches across. Up here in zone 4 I have to dig them (and the gladiolus) up every Fall and store them in a cool basement til spring...some bulbs I have "recycled" for nearly 10 yrs. The problem now is that roses are taking over most of the real estate in my yard, so there is getting to be less & less room for other things. Phyl...sorry I forgot to label the lilies. In order, they are: Centerfold (Asiatic) Luminaries (O.T.) Rosalinda (Asiatic) Anastasia (O.T.) pink, in foreground White Henryi Arabesque (O.T.) mixed Orientals Let me tell you, that Arabesque is a monster of a lily! It is more like a TREE...it grows to stand taller than any of us (over 6 1/2 feet tall) and the stalk is so thick that in the Fall when I go to cut down my lily stalks, I need a SAW!! And it blooms later than most...there could be 20 or so lilies that slowly open from the bottom upwards. It is also exceptionally fragrant, but not overpowering as some. I got it from "The Lily Garden" if you are interested...that and Luminaries (the yellow OT). The others I got from B & D Lilies. Annabeth...that cute little rose in front of Tiffany is "Pink Rosette", a floribunda that blooms in clusters all summer. Mine is very prolific, and the little flowers are adorable. It stays short and compact. Seeing how you all appreciate my lilies (and Pink Rosette) I'll do another post to show you more! I hope you enjoy them too.... you all are great. Celeste

Be sure to get a 2nd opinion! I bought a house in horrible shape... peeking under the (icky!) carpets, I could see hardwood floors. Once the carpets were removed, there was white and black 'crap' stuck all over it. The first guy that looked at it told me it could NOT be removed by machine/sanding because it would gum up everything. He said to remove it by hand. I scraped one day until my arm felt like a giant lobster's claw and had only managed to remove a few square feet. I found another guy to come look at it and he said: "no big deal! my machine will take that off in no time!". I hired him. :) My LR, DR, and bedrooms also have 2.25" oak flooring. There was severe damage and buckling of the DR floor in one section due to water damage from an unattended leaking roof. The 2nd guy told me it would be cheaper to fix it myself (rather than have him do it) and he suggested taking wood from a closet. Luckily, a friend noticed that the hardwood in the closet was 3" wide! so be sure to check that. lol! On the damaged section, he told me to chisel out the bad section... I couldn't find the tongue-n-groove oak in 2.25" to replace it, so he sent me to a hardwood mill to have custom pieces cut. My repairs came out great -- thanks to him. He said my only mistake was that I should have ordered "2nd" quality oak so that it would better match the existing older wood. i.e., my fix was 'too perfect'. :) I was bad about taking any 'before' photos (it was all just too ugly!) -- but this shows the buckets collecting the dripping water before the carpet was ripped up. That white-ish and blue crap around the carpet edge was just some of what was stuck to the floor. And here's an 'after' photo (with much more work to be done!) from a slightly different angle: PS: yeah... the odd-shaped cut-out in the wall was changed (but remains, despite my father's recommendation) because the kitchen cupboards had to be lowered for me to reach them. That cut-out gives me a *perfect* view of everything from the kitchen, and makes a great 'pass through'. :)

We really appreciate you all taking the time to send your suggestions our way!! Many ideas we haven't thought of but are definitely considering. I love the idea of replacing the cedar planks with siding and eliminating the side slope of the roof by adding siding! We agreed that many parts of this house are dated and were unsure as to how to update this 1970's gem!! Removing the hedges is a definite and happening today! Yay! Repainting the front door for the time being is on th list as well!! We want to tackle the pavers first and are having a difficult time choosing the paver color. Beverly... Chicago brick pavers were on the list and we also considered charcoal or trimming the chicago brick with charcoal. Would love suggestions on color !?!?!? Also, we live in Florida... Not sure if that makes a difference.

Mary, kids have a day off here too. rare thing here..they hardly ever call snow days, or early dismissals. I was told it's due to so many people in town that commute to NYC for work. *raspberries*

Thank you everybody for the wonderful comments! I feel for all of you that are having snow and ice. Please be careful it has been nice in WI. We are getting up to the high 20's so I think I will try to get out and get some sun and play in the snow for a while..LOL Build a snowman I try to make at least one a year...LOL

Brandy those are tiger lillies they grow wild here. But they can be bought. I think they need deep cold in order to bloom. My ma in Ca loves lillies and cant grow them not enough cold for them. I could be wrong of course in your area. I gave the bulbils away as soon as they ripen. I think they have to be sown right away. It takes 4 years to bloom from the bulbils. I will be breaking that clump up this fall for trading bulbs.....Bulbs bloom right away if they are the right size.... :)

Double wow Karma! Are you another poppie lover...Dont you just love their colors...Is that one a blue himalayan poppie? I bought some seeds I am gonna try it and push my zone..What they hey I will protect them as much as possible. I just love the white one with the pink ring. May I ask the name of it? Thank you for brightening my day... :)

So sorry rosepedal, as you can see it's once a day here while I redo the website and with coffee in hand here goes.
These are what they call anemone, poppy-flower anemone or Greek windflowers but we here in the PNW call them Ranunculaceae. I have no names for them as these were gifts from a friend whom had tons of them. I grow them now due to she passed away shortly after these were gifted to me. These were her favorites and I think she knew I would enjoy them as much as she enjoyed the Daturas we shared with her. We have tried the blue poppy one, it's a hard one to keep going. We have many colors and are about to spread seed of many more, just need to decide where they need to go. I'm thinking they would look nice in front of the white fence instead of all hollyhocks?

Cool looking anemones. Mine dig plump up after soaking them in water so I hope they come up. I love the lillies Barb. I have a thing for them and the best ones for me here have been the asiatics of the ones I have tried so far. I have some new ones coming Monday. I was cold and went on ebay, lol. Don't laugh Kylie. I was cold it was late and I was sick and on medication. Give me a break, lol. Oops never mind all was true but the sick part. I ordered them two weeks ago, lol.
