Revilo, I started germinating my seeds a couple days ago. I filed the seed edges(except the tip of course), and soaked them in 3% hydrogen peroxide for 6 hrs. Then I put them in moist paper towels covered by a baggie. I provided heat with a heating mat. Results so far: 945.5 Sherwood 03 -- it sprouted and I planted it in a pot. 901 Hebb 02 --ditto 953 Langevin X 1260 Weir(a Connolly cross that I grew my 615 lber. from last year)--ditto 940 Mombert 00-- one is in the process of sprouting, and one hasn't shown signs of sprouting yet. My tentative cross plans are(I stress tentative): 945.5 Sherwood X 940 Mombert 00(or 901 Hebb) 940 Mombert sibbed both ways. 901 Hebb X 940 Mombert 00 Connolly cross X 940 Mombert The 945.5 Sherwood will likely get the best growing spot. Premature pumpkin harvest here. Heard a large crack in the back yard yesterday, and went outside to find my largest Big Max lying on the patio with a big gouge out of it. Either it got too heavy for the stem to support or the squirrels were playing with it. Anyway, it broke off and rolled down a slight slope and over the retaining wall fence. Decided it was nature's way of telling me to harvest and get the vine into the compost pile. The big pumpkin weighs 43.5 pounds and has a 54 " circumference. The smaller one is only 13.3 pounds with a 31" circumference. Loved growing these this year and will probably grow them again next year. 3 New England Pie pumpkin plants have produced 5 good sized pumpkins and I have 6 more that should be ready in a few weeks!

oukay, I think you are right! And don't you just hate it when the names of things are changed around for marketing purposes. Really hate it when done to tomato or pepper varieties. Was just looking at that pumpkin and noticed it has a mold problem. Will have to find out what to do abt it. I chunked up a butternut yesterday and it was easy to remove the rind with just a knife. I have more kinds of saws than your average gardener. Several chainsaws, band saw, table saw etc etc. And I think just a regular hand saw would work and be easy to clean up. Maybe a rip blade rather than a crosscut. ummm... i don't think smoking a bong is allowed! and drinking beer, well that would be allowed! i'm ok, jimi is my brother, but i raised him from a little thing!! LOL mom being a trucker and all. the other thing i can do pretty easy! pissing me off!! LOL he he he amazing aren't i! LOL funny how those kids are, when your not, looking they just do what they want!! my mom went and got tabor some of those heelys, so now he's like all cool. LOL sooooo, he wears them to church, so i make him change them, and he can wear them at break time, LOL the good news is my banana plant is comin out of it! before after like almost a week. so my banana plant is doing much bettr!! can't say much for the canna's. errr! one was just about to bloom too!! i was FINALLY gonna see this special yellow! LOL and one i've been waiting on never bloomed yet, won't this year thanks to the frost! that's it! i'm moving!! LOL :'))
