Does anyone have some good pics they can post

Hi everyone! My husband just asked me what I want for my birthday, and I told him I want to build a bog garden. Of course, his first response was "Can't I get you something that doesn't involve me digging a big hole in the backyard?". He just helped me put in a small fishpond/water garden last month. Anyway, he would like to see some pictures to get an idea of what I'm talking about, and I was hoping some of you might have some pictures, or links, that you could post.

LOL! I have a very skewed perspective on bog garden plants - all carnivorous! So I'll post some pics of CP's that I have in my minibogs, which are nothing more than buckets with drainage holes toward the top and bottom. Not all the pictures are good, though!

Thanks a bunch for the pics! I actually was able to convince him, because of the carnivorous plants! He loves them! We started working on our bog this past week, and it is for the most part finished. I think it's beautiful, and I'm sure we will add more as time goes on. Thanks again for the great pics! Krista in Naples, FL

Thanks! I planted a lot more ferns and have more pics? Can anyone help identify these? One of them is a log fern but I don't know which one is. Fern 1: Fern 2: I'm pretty sure this is an Ostrich Fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris)Just want a confirmation :) Fern 3: I think this is defiantly a sensitive fern (Onoclea sensibilis). It looks the least "fern-like" than all the ferns I planted IMHO. Fern 4: I think this is a lady fern (Athyrium felix-femina). It was purchased from Home Depot or Lowes. I forget which. Fern 5: From research I think this is a Japanese Painted fern (Athyrium niponicum var. pictum). It looks wonderful. I hope it grows in as it only has a few fronds. Fern 6: I know this is a Christmas fern (Polystichum acrostichoides). I just thought I would post a few pics of my new clumps. Fern 7: I'm not sure what this is. I love the shiny fronds! It has hairy (not really hair) on its stem (I'm sure it's not really a stem). Fern 8: Not sure what this is either. Fern 9: This is also a no ID fern. It is by far the largest. Very tall. Fern 10: This is a Ebony Spleenwort (Asplenium platyneuron). It has grown a little bit since I planted it. Here are a few pics of all the ferns. I can't wait until they grow in next year! Thanks all! TT has them, 1 gal for $14.95. Gardino's at gardinosnursery.com has the Grand Duke in a one-gallon size for $15. Logee's also has them, but Logee's plants are always small. I have bought from all three of these many times over a several year period. I would suggest you get the one-gallon simply because they can take a while to get that size, and Logee's are smaller but not cheaper. I got A grand Duke from TT a few weeks ago. Nice thick plant. They spray them with some iron solution that makes the leaves very ugly for a while, doesn't come off. But the plant itself was big and healthy.

I'm not sure I'll be much help, since ours isn't quite finished and fully operational yet. It sounds like what we're doing, but I don't have the washer and dryer for that room yet (our main laundry is upstairs), and we're just putting the craft/sewing area together. I can show you renderings of what it will look like finished. It's such a mess right now. We only have the counters and lower cabinets in place, but we sewed on them for Christmas projects and it seemed to work really well. (each corner serves as a sewing station...one for me with sewing-embroidery machine and serger, and one for the kids' machine) I only seem to have a floorplan already on photobucket and I'm at the wrong computer to add others, so I will have to do that later. In the meanwhile, here's the floorplan of the room. The kitchen is off to the right. The door on the left goes outside onto our side porch.

You're very welcome. Glad the tow of you are on the same page. I don't where your interests lie, with respect to plants, but some of those plants pictured can be purchased at local nurseries / greenhouses while others can come from discussion forum people. If'n you need some plants that you can't come by through local retailers or Ebay oe whatever, just give me a hollar. I only seek recompense to cover shipping ($4.05)

Watch out for plants on Ebay. Several times they've had plants for sale from people who poached them from the wild. I stick to trades or reputable nursuries.

My seep-style Bog garden has filled in great. Now that we have digital camera again, I'll post some pictures (I smashed the last one climbing in Alaska)

Here are some pictures of our pond and bog garden to show how it turned out! The bog is still pretty empty, but our little pitcher plants and fly traps look great!

Sorry that picture was so big! I'm still trying to figure out how all of this works! Here's a picture of one of our little pitcher plants! The above is an Arrowhead plant in case there is someone looking who is unfamiliar with that plant! Krista

Thank you for sharing the pictures! I recognize the pitcher plant as S. purpurea. That is the same species whose pics are in the second and 8th photo.
