15 years agoI'm not sure I'll be much help, since ours isn't quite finished and fully operational yet. It sounds like what we're doing, but I don't have the washer and dryer for that room yet (our main laundry is upstairs), and we're just putting the craft/sewing area together. I can show you renderings of what it will look like finished. It's such a mess right now. We only have the counters and lower cabinets in place, but we sewed on them for Christmas projects and it seemed to work really well. (each corner serves as a sewing station...one for me with sewing-embroidery machine and serger, and one for the kids' machine)
I only seem to have a floorplan already on photobucket and I'm at the wrong computer to add others, so I will have to do that later. In the meanwhile, here's the floorplan of the room. The kitchen is off to the right. The door on the left goes outside onto our side porch.

15 years agoHere are the renderings of what it's supposed to be when finished. As I said, it's now just starting to look like this with only the base cabinets and sewing counters in.

Comments (7)Be careful with yellow. It always looks more yellow than those innocent paint swatches. Ask me how I know. LOL Choose the absolute palest version you can find. A friend of mine bought quarts and painted poster board with each color. Then she tacked it to the wall in her kitchen. That gave her a large swatch and good enough idea about how each color would look. It got expensive, so she chose her paint colors carefully. My next door neighbors painted their living room in a very pale yellow, and it is beautiful. It is the color of a banana, NOT the banana peel, but the edible banana part. Comments (5)Deb Bathrooms get premium in resale - so I would give serious consideration before converting. In general, most home buyers dont have foresight to say I'll convert that laundry room back to 1/2 bath - So, it could be a deal breaker that said - The location of the powder room is another factor if it is the only BR on that level - I would say no, don't bother. Comments (2)I don't yet have a room to show! We are building a house and I am just looking for ideas from people who've already done this. There is a new thread about organizing a craft room, and that one could help me too. I will have a relatively small space, approx. 7'x9', and I am looking generally for ideas that might help me decide how I want to organize the space -- put in counters and cabinets, arrange work space, etc. It's just a big blank sheet at this point! Hopefully you can see it, I don't know how to make it come up bigger here...
Anyway, the windows on the left side are up high, so there is space below for cabs/bulletin boards or whatever. The other windows at the bottom are regular size/height for light. I hope there will be enough space here for some countertop workspace and cabinets up/below, and also a table like you've got in your plans Rhome. It's not quite framed out yet but it looks small when I am standing there in the midst of construction!
