I think most Morning Glories are blooming by now...at least mine have been for awhile. There's been lots of pics posted of other folks' MG for a while now. I don't know about Moonflower...I tried but no germination :(
Are you feeding them? If so that could be why no flowers and lots of beautiful foliage.

I'm a bit warmer then you but both my WS and direct sown morning glories have been in bloom for a couple months already. My Moonflowers have also been in bloom since May but that's because they were last year's plants that I wintered over inside. Normally Moonflowers that I start from seed don't bloom until late July into August. They were very easy to winter over and bloomed on and off through the winter.

My moonflower vines here in NC just started blooming last week. They are late to bloom but once started worth every bit the wait. Ours are on the landing outside the screened in porch - the scent just fills the porch and family room all evening. Our native MG's have been blooming for several weeks now along with the Heavenly Blue that I WS'd....

I WSed moonflower last year and they didn't bloom until mid August I think. The blossoms were pretty and fragrant but I thought the vine itself was ugly. It wrapped around and around so I have no idea what the length actually was but it was huge. As lower leaves aged they turned yellow and fell off, leaving "bare feet and legs"

All things considered, I didn't plant it this year.

My MG's were WS - I have them in windowboxes and they sarted blooming in zone 5 last week but they are sitting on a concrete wall and they are bottom heated!

I started the Moonflower in June - it's about 4' tall and growing but no flowers yet.

Karyn - how did you winter them over? Were they planted in the ground during the summer?

Linda, I'm in zone 5 MA, about 20 minutes from Nashua and the pheasant lane Mall.

My MG just started blooming in the past week. Some bloome earlier than others and the Japanese ones can be a little later.

Be a little more patient and you should be rewarded in the next week or 2 with lots and lots of blooms.

As for Moonflower, I've never grown the white ones, just a lavender moonvine that started blooming last week and, alas, there is no scent with this one.

My morning glories just started blooming this past week, unfortunantly most of the blooms are inside the foilage. My moon flower vine put out its first bloom last night. My 2yr old daughter saw that huge bloom ran for it and plucked it before I got to enjoy it!!

Linda I had a couple Moonvines in a container. I originally brought them in just hoping that the seed pods would ripen but they continued to grow and bloom very well so I kept them going. I use 1000 watt HID lights for wintering over my plants and I'm sure that's why they did so well inside. The seed pods did ripen but none of the subsequent flowers produced seed pods. I guess that's because there aren't any insect pollinators in the house, thank God! lol

I sowed Moonflower Vine directly into a large container on 6/3. I am sure I could have gotten them in 2 weeks earlier than that but my pots weren't ready. They are climbing a large hoop that is anchored in two large pots. No sign of blooms yet. This is the second time I am growing them and I remember the first time I tried them, they barely had time to bloom before the first frost.

I tried them again because I saw a Backyard Habitat episode about Hummingbird Moths and they are supposed to be attracted to the Moonflower Vine. Plus, we had a late fall frost last year and I had left over seed, so in they went.

I am having the same thing happen that Karen did, with the lower leaves yellowing and falling off. I don't mind because I grew MGs on the same hoop and their foliage is keeping the bottom full of leaves.

The MGs, I had seedlings to plant in the same pot on 6/3 and they just started blooming last week.
