I would love to have the opportunity to take pictures of Aphrodite again. I love that sparkle in the closeup. Glad you liked the photos too. The leaves are long and green, but are bent down right at the top of the bulb. There are about six leaves. I suppose the rotting began in the spring (it was fine up until I took it outdoors), and it just didn't have the strength to produce more leaves. I am wondering whether I should just let the leaves yellow, cut them and allow it to rest. I am hoping to get another amaryllis from a nearby garden center when they get them in. They are more expensive but the bulb is a good size and they had had some nice ones I thought. I was thinking of purchasing Charisma last year, but couldn't decide. Then it was gone.

I have a ponytail palm that we replanted a few years ago. I noticed a week or so ago that the bulb area had a soft spot in it. I dug out a bunch of the soil to try and see what exactly was going on there. The farther down I dug the more I realized the area was a lot bigger than I thought. After some research on the web I decided to probe the area to see if the bulb was rotten. Now while I was digging the bark on the bulb definitely cracked in a few places so I pulled that area back to exam the inside. I found the inside of the bulb looked almost like sawdust. I also found worms in the soil (not sure how they got there but most likely when the replanting happened) and they seemed to be in the bulb area but i'm not 100% sure that they didn't fall in while I was digging. I don't know what my next step is, if any, to saving the plant. I have attached a photo of the bulb. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like looks like it needs to be taken out of the pot and dried/cleaned up. If it's rotting inside it will only spread of it isn't got rid of. The soil mix looks very water retentive so a grittier faster draining mix is needed IMHO. What is it planted in especially as it has what appear to be earthworms in it? Commercial compost 'shouldn't' contain them so I'm curious as to how they are there? Also, it doesn't actually have a bulb, the base is the swollen lower stem, yes it is 'bulbous' but a bulb is a quite different structure. Does it's current pot have drainage holes, must have at least one as no plant can thrive without? More pics of the plant, pot and soil will help. Gill

I'd advise to saw off anywhere it is rotting, until you reach healthy flesh. This will decrease the size of the base by quite a bit, but save it. After the wound callouses, you can replant it in better draining soil and it will hopefully root again.
