Amaryllis bulbs site

Last year i have seen a website for amaryllis bulbs. I forgot the name of it. I think it starts with "M" and its 2 words. Its not maguireshippeastrumfarm.com

I tried to open the website couple of times, it was opening very slow. After that i forgot. I googled it and i didn't find it. if anybody is having any idea of the website i am taking about please do let me know.

Not sure of the website you're referring to but there are loads of them out there these days. Brentandbeckys.com... Springhillsnursery.com, royalcolors.com... and ebay is another source. there are loads more i haven't list here but even if you search this forum for sites, you'll find tons.

Also, if you happen to have anything to trade you can send me your info and I will add you to the trading post.

Hello Ryan,

The site name sounds "Mczu....net". I have see the site name in this forums only.

I have only rock n roll, Ambiance for trade. I have couple of other bulbs but they are small bulbs. I have few seeds too.

My wanted list is big.

1) mega star
2) Santa Cruz
3) Chico
4) snow White
5) Flaming Peacock

so on...

What kind of Amaryllis bulbs do you have? I have a jpg of an orange one with yellow throat. Johnsonii is the closest that I've come to being able to ID it. I'd be interested in trading to get a different bulb. When you write me back, I'll send you the jpg. Xtal

Just a few suggestions; If your plant came in one of those kit deals, get your plant in a considerably larger pot with some good potting medium. I use 3 gallon pots. I would imagine your Hippi might enjoy the summer outdoors developing some additional leaf growth and, thereby storing up some energy for the winter bloom. My plan is to grow mine outdoors nearly all year. Some of that winter time will be spent in a greenhouse. However, I cannot give you any instruction on the "winter reposal" that our generous teacher "Hans" teaches of. A search here on this forum using "winter reposal" will provide you with a lot of valuable info. "Plant Guy" does in fact have a very informative site for growing Hippeastrum in the Far North. Tropicalfreak As you cruise through the older post, make note of the plants you like, then do a Google search using that name with the word Hippeastrum out front. You'll find 'em. If you want a few names to start with; Papilio would top just about anyone's list these days. As far as "different and unique", is a matter of opinion. The cybisters are certainly different, "Chico", "Emerarld", "LaPaz", "Rosario" Some folks really like the doubles. Check 'em out. Ray

I'm in the Northeast (US) too and I put most of my bulbs out for the summer right in their pots. I use carts that hold about 15 to 20 plants each which can be wheeled around if you want more or less sun. Being in carts, if we should have a prolonged period of rain I can wheel them into the garage for a few days so they won't rot from being too wet too long. I also have planted seedling bulbs in whiskey barrels and that works out well too. Not much seems to bother them in our neck of the woods and we have an abundance of squirrels and chipmunks. The chipmunks do like to "plant" things in some of the pots though but never actually bother the bulb itself. Just never use bone meal as that will attract everything, skunks included and then they will dig up your bulbs! If you only have 20 or so you can plant them right in the ground, they will love it and their roots will grow like wildfire. Only drawback is that you have to dig them up in fall and trim their roots and either let them go dormant for a period or replant them and assume that they will suffer a setback. I get the most growth in the bulbs themselves by planting directly in the ground but it's hard for me to get down on my knees which is why I love the whiskey barrels so much. Donna☺☺

Bunti, try also www.kvbwholesale.com even though its a wholesale site, there's no real minimum for purchase (maybe 3 or so). Also you can find some great selections at:

All have very different selections of amaryllis bulbs.

I just checked the KVB Wholesale site, and the minimum order is fifty bucks. They do have a very nice selection of amaryllis bulbs, so if the day ever comes that I have fifty bucks to spend on flowers, that site seems like a nice place to shop.
