Growing Ensete (Abyssinian) Banana

There's lots of discussion with growing Musa, but I would like to hear from some who have grown Ensete. We have a short growing season in northern Utah, and after trying both, I find that Ensete grows much faster, becomes taller, has larger leaves, has a larger, thicker trunk (stem) and looks more tropical in my opinion that musa, which grows slowly and ends up looking weak and puny in comparison. I overwinter the ensete by chopping off the leaves, transplanting them into 15 gallon nursery pots (they get quite big) and sticking them in a basement room in the dark at 50-55 degrees. I water them once or twice until Spring. Occasionally one dies, but the majority survive. Any growing tips from those who grow Ensete?
