Nova Scotia June 30th gardens.

Just thought I'd post a few photos of what things are like here. Lots and lots of green still since the sun hasn't really made an appearance in some time, but there are still some colors. :O)

Wendy's Lupines still going strong. Also, if you look to the left of it and other spots, you'll see annual poppy plants that are unbelievably lush and big. This was a mistake. A trade of Digitalis seeds was actually poppies and I decided to transplant 'al la HOS'. What a welcome addition. Can't wait for them to bloom.

White Lavender, winter sown, about to bloom.To the right are Donn's Rudbeckias (don't remember the original name so that's what I call them :O)

Finishing off with another Digitalis with winter sown ground hugging perennial geraniums at it's feet. Behind it are stand of Phlox Paniculatas which will bloom later in the season.

Those look wonderful! Would love to see the poppies when they bloom, and think your success with the hostas is terrific. I like that mini variegated one, looks mini anyway.

Josephine is gorgeous. Claire de Lune is lovely as well, have been eyeing that one but think I'll pass because there is no true blue clem. Close.

What you call Blue Boy looks like Multi Blue to me. Deceptive photos have made it look true blue.

Will look forward to more pics. You've got the neatest place there!

Even stranger, we set records for the driest June in history, no real soaking rain here since May 19th. And in the normally soggy, soaked and gray PNW no less. I NEVER have a June water bill but do this year. Just got back from my SILs where I thought I was just going to check on the progress of the interior painting contractor working while she's in Europe for the month. No one told me the auto sprinkling system is not operating for some reason. Big corner landscaped lot, many shrubs and big lawn....everything looks like crap! I borrowed sprinklers from her neighbors (couldn't find any) and have water going every which way now :), will go back in an hour and turn them off.

Evermore, you rang. Hello all, yes I am in South Western Nova Scotia. I have been busy outdoors weeding, and burning some brush before the end of the month. I am way ahead of myself this year. Being retired now I have no excuse. The spring flowers are starting to show. No sign of hosta yet, just as well, figure we will pay for this weather sometime in April. Weather man says it was warmer here than it was in Texas the other day. Sorry to hear that a lot of you still have snow and others had snow where there wasn't any in years. Just remember all the moisture will only do your plants good. Best March in years. Snow all rained off weeks ago. We had 3 snowstorms that we had to plow. Not too many bitter cold days this year as in years past. Halifax, 2 hrs away had a lot more snow this year as did New Brunswick. It missed us a few times. The humidity does get high for a few days every year, but not unbearable. The heat is tolerable, probably cool for some of you folks. The last few springs have been very wet, lots of rain, no dry wells, they say this year will be a dry one. Can't have it all. Seriously, yes we have great weather, you are all welcome to check us out. When I first read your post I thought about posting, but I thought na a a you wouldn't believe me. well I got my box today and man was it well worth the wait!! the box was pretty big! much bigger than I expected it to be!! so I opened it up and what did I see? a lot of goodies staring back at me!! here's what I got... *plants* ~snow in the mountains-really pretty plant with varigated leaves!! ~jesky(sp?)pink tomato plant-she got the seeds from an indian tribe...isn't that cool?! ~green zebra tomato(heritage tomato) ~datura-"La Fleus Lilac" *seeds* ~red hawaiin hibiscus ~sweet peas(mixed colors)-from 1910!!!! ~woodland poppy ~tall lily(white) ~oriental lily "dizzy" ~oriental lily "aubade" ~oriental lily "stargazer" ~oriental lily "ginza" ~oriental lily "casa blanca" ~lily "black beauty" *bulbs* ~daffodil "cheerfulness" ~asiatic lily "moonshine" I also got a really pretty butterfly windchime! I really appreciate all this! I've been really wanting some of all that you sent me lol. and I really really needed some tomato plants too!! oh and I almost forgot! she sent me a yummy sounding recipe for tomato sauce!! I can't wait to try it :-) P.s.-I'm gonna go ahead and tell you here because I don't want to put more work on dawn because she's doing enough work already(**hugs to you dawn**)I hope that's ok with you pal...but anyway I do LOVE daturas and brugmansias...I don't have any of either but I do have datura now because of you...thanks so much! but if you want to send me more that's absolutely fine by me! send me anything you want I'm very easy to please :-) p.p.s.-to my pal that I'm sending to...I'm trying my darndest to get to the post office! I feel like a 'grandma' seeing those lupines! Your red lychnis, Tiff, (short type) has the neighbours coming over and saying..."What is that? It's beautiful!"

Wonder if those poppies might be peonies(?) Keep us posted!

It looks soooo cool and moist there. Can i come visit? I love the stone and the way you plant among it. The plants are gorgeous too.

Aliska, You are probable right on the Multi Blue. You are the third person to ID it as such. Perhaps the tags were switched at birth?

Bakemom, No. No Delphs in the gardens. They are slug bait like crazy here. They do grow in our area, but you need to be away from a bog (located in the woods behind the house) to do it. Those are - guess what - more LUPINES!!! Grown for you of course!

Wendy, I noticed that the Lupines are pointing towards Ontario. I think they are telling the other Lupines where they come from. Glad you like the Lynchnis!

Dirtbert, I'll take some good property views when we get a nice sunny day. Thanks!

Oh so pretty! I bet that when the poppies bloom you have "peony" types there, as the foliage looks just like some I have growing with big peony flowers.

I want to come to Nova Scotia to see your gardens too! My mom is taking my almost 20 year old daughter on a cruise from NY to Nova Scotia in August and I'd love to hide in her suitcase!

Nova Scotia is the only place left on my "must visit" list. Over the years I have crossed off all of the others and I have seen a lot of Canada, but still would love to visit Nova Scotia. Your garcens are lovely as always.

It's all so green and lush! Your Clematis are amazing. Claire De Lune is incredible, but Josephine is even more so.

Wow, that Claire de Lune is stunning. I've never seen such a huge clematis bloom! What is that red-leafed plant in front of the foxglove in that first pic? I love all the rocks in your shade garden too.
