how deep is to deep for planting moso seeds

I planted my moso bamboo seedlings(12 in all) about two weeks ago. I missread the directions and planted most of the seeds about 3/4" down...Are the seeds to deep or will it just take longer to germinate. I have two wicks being fed into the large plastic pot filled with sand. I did this to give the roots some room to grow without the need of transplanting them.I also made a plastic wrap and coat hanger cover today(two weeks in) to boost the humidity. Am I doing this all wrong. Since I am growing them under the garage window, I can allow the water to run on the floor. There is generally a small puddle running from the pot of sand. Is it too wet, or just right? This is my first time growing bamboo.

The soil mixture should just be kept damp. If you have it covered there is no need to keep it constatntly watered.

All my bamboo seed I have germinated I sowed just under the surface. I also always use a 50/50 mix of perlite and peat moss.

next time I try growing them, I will put them on and just below the surface. I will wait and see if these grow for now. I think I will just continue with what I am doing for now...Thanks though. Where would you get cutting of bamboo?

I'm a bit north of you, and I planted KBG/Fescue seed about a week before you did. It definitely is struggling compared to the seeding I put in two weeks before, so I think it has partly to do with the borderline late planting date, and the fact that it is KBG, which is known to germinate slowly, as has been mentioned. You might get down close to the soil in an untouched part of the new lawn and try to identify seed on the surface. KBG seeds are really small, so you might not see them, but you might, or you could gently sift through the surface layer of soil until you find them. Then you'd know if they were really too deep. That's how I've always checked, in my own yard. Good luck.

Larkspur needs stratification for a few weeks and the seeds should just be barely covered during germination. You should do a search for "stratification" if you are unsure what that process involves.

I didn't have any luck with putting them in the ground. I started them in 6" pots with regular potting soil. Probably 5 seeds to each pot. Keep the soil moist but not soggy. It didn't take long at all. When they are up to about 6-8 inches tall I put them in the ground and I actually had blooms the first year. Put them in sun and keep them watered and fed with a good fert.

Joey, Don't worry to much about it. An inch sounds fine. The bubils are actually tiny bulbs not seeds. they will be clones of the parents. Treat them as you would bulbs of the same size. If you have asiatic lilies they are kind of like the tiny bulbs you get from the stem just below the ground. I actually like to plant them in pots to grow on before I set them out into the ground the next year.
