not much, but a few. Better late than never ...

Petunia 'Shockwave Purple':

which looks like petunia 'Laura Bush', just a different habit (only one of these survived, and I'm a little bummed - really needed more to make any kind of show):

Finger Millet 'Green Cat' (these are flopping, but cute):

and my very first snapdragon 'Tequila Sunrise' bloom, on plants that germinated way back in mid-March, and are still only about 9" tall:

VERY weird year!

PV, those deep purple petunias are beautiful - worth waiting for. I believe you have had the same kind of weather we have had up here in Ottawa. My petunias have just started blooming but are 'mini' sized, my snapdragons are small like yours but no blooms yet, my maltese cross blooms are also 'mini's', and all my salvias are still very small with no blooms. What a strange year!

Yea! You've got blooms! Those Shockwaves seem to be moving along nicely...looks like they are going to live up to their name :-)

Hi! You poor thing, want to grow roses, eh? ;-)) You only want to cut off the blooms once it doesn't look good (what "doesn't look good" is up to you). Clip or snap off just below the bloom. Your new plants need all of the leaves they can get now, so no "hard pruning" for the rest of the season. No cutting off "old wood", no pruning down to the soil level (you'll never do this at all, unless the canes are totally black and dead). After blooming, you can fertilize. Fish emulsion would be good. You can try Espoma Rose-tone, but some of it won't break down in containers (I still use it anyway). Miracle Gro is OK too, but some people like to stay away from synthetic fertilizers (roses don't know the difference). Good luck!

Hello all, I've been growing a dwarf gardenia in a very large pot for the last two years. It had some blooms when I first bought it, but they quickly disappeared when I transplanted it into a larger pot. Last year it stayed green all winter and this spring was much larger & looked really healthy. I gave it some epsom salts & coffee grounds (a hint a Florida friend passed on). It had a couple of blossoms early in the spring, but not a lot. All summer the plant has been growing and growing and has beautiful leaves. It looks incredibly healty. Now I see many buds, but they seem to be taking forever to get fat. They still aren't ready to open. I'm wondering if there is anything I could do to jump start their opening their buds? Also will the coller weather make the plant stop budding? I live in TN. It's still very hot here in the daytime, but gets down to the low 60's in the night. I love gardenias. I had tons on old bushes in front of my house when I lived in Florida. I'm dying to see this plant in full bloom! Any suggestions?

Thanks. It's nice to be able to post. Our season is a little behind this year. Unlike most of you we are having cooler than normal weather--lots of cool drizzly days (high of 61 today), but we're behind on rain. Now I'll be away for a while. Hope I don't miss too many FFOs. Maybe I'll post some pictures from my mother's garden. She's the one who's to blame for my addiction.

Thank you everyone! Hey Jen: It did take a lot of work. Here is the funny thing. I stuck them in among my vegetables and decided to ignore them and see what happens. It happened. When I anxiously wait for something to happen, nothing happens.lol Dave: Thank you. I am not sure of the name of that one. Bill would know best. He gave them to me. I can't hobble over to read the name he wrote on the trunk. It smells so good. Laura: Thank you thank you! You have certainly helped me with so much. I remembered everything I was told to do. I love both types of plants. Sometimes I wish the DR had a fragrance too. I love the sis to your plant. Drats! The t-storm winds just snapped the shockwave in half! Dipped it in some rooting hormone and stuck it in the dirt - hope it "catches".

Sorry your petunia was broken. Hope it roots for you as it is lovely. My snaps were late though have been blooming a couple of weeks.

That finger millet is interesting. Does it stay short? I have grow Limelight and Purple Majesty. Love the Purple Majesty and have added it to my yearly list.

I love millet - use purple millet as the "tall interest" in all my planters.

Yes pvick, the WS flowers are sooo slow out here too. It's that cool spring that got us I think. I have so many seedlings in the bed that have not bloomed yet.

Someone sent me Petunia seed this past winter (was it you?) and I decided to sow them. They are now forming some blossoms and I can hardly wait. Something tells me they are going to start popping when I am away this weekend.

I hope your's takes again. They are wonderful. I love the colour!
