Can I just say I am so appreciative for this list of roses and companion plants. There are so many good choices given and much to think about. I do have room in the area designated for a moon garden for one climber and two medium sized rose bushes and some companion plantings. It is a part of my garden that would be about 9ft by 5ft. Hopefully, I can get much started this season. For roses, I am leaning towards the suggestions of Westside Road Cream Tea, Boule de Neige, Larmarque, Sombreuil and Winchester Cathedral. For companion plantings I love the recommendations of night blooming jasmine, narcissus, nicotiana, Stephanotis vine, white lavender, silver thyme, gardenia and moonflower vine. Mme. Alfred Carriere is tempting, with that touch of pink combined with white, but seems like it might get too big for the area. I am checking out the Annie's site and moon garden forum, which I was not even aware of. I haven't seen any mention of the tall white trumpet lilies. I suggest Lilium trumpet hybrid 'Emerald Angel' which is white with a green tint. It grows 3-5 ft and blooms in July. The trumpet lilies perfume the whole garden when they bloom. I have always been extremely fond of Datura. They are nocturnal, but they don't close up at the first ray of dawn. Some are extremely fragrant. There are several different species and cultivars to choose from. Colors range from pure white to cream and pale yellow. There are lavenders and whites with purple edges and throats. They have large, upfacing, trumpet shaped flowers. They are a herbaceous perennial in warmer climates and a reseeding annual in the colder zones. I liked the suggestion of Veronicastrum virginicum (culvers root). The tall white flower spikes seem to glow in the moonlight. Same goes for Aruncus dioicus (goats beard).

That runyun's Manfreda is a very rare plant. Where did you get it . My deer will eat it post haste. They eat all my manfredas. Info below from D G "There were only 4 known populations of Manfreda longiflora (60 plants - none seedlings nor juveniles) in the USA In 1990 and it is a is Fully Sponsored endangered (State Rank 2 - Imperiled, Global Rank 2 - Imperiled) plant. Since I am the city clerk he has been going around telling every one I am doing things all wrong and illegal yada yada yada. This is a tiny town and there are many that will listen to him as I am not a favorite around town after stopping a good old boy ring of old town rulers that were dipping from the city coffers. This is pretty much a bass ackwards kind of tiny town.Gives real meaning to red neck. The stress he has been causing me is of constantly having to prove what he is saying about me is not true.Frustration because I should not be having to deal with this crap. I work so hard for this little city. With my careful watch I brought this town in 15K under budget this year in the general fund. Considering the budget was ruffly 59K I did very well handling the tax payers dollars!!! Not me actually I do not run the city. BUT I kept the council appraised on where they stood at every decision financially. Before me they were running amuck. I could go on for hours on the waste before I came on scene. Needless to say bad boys are not happy I have lightened their and their relatives personal pockets. Any way all of this started another psoriasis flair up for me. I have not brought it under control yet. It is very painful with hands and feet splitting and bleeding at the drop of a hat. Sunday my hands were clear of splits. Yesterday I had 16 new bloody splits on fingers and palms. And I did not do this with my mosaics on the hoosier Sunday.See gadget thread on the other side here. Hoping now the election is over and bad boy lost and the rest of my council but one are great the next couple of years will mellow out. Sorry for the rant. I am still pretty wound up.
