Somebody stop me before I make a horrible mistake!

Okay, I've read up a bit about running bamboo and its zest for life.... Here's my plan and somebody please tell me if it won't work...

I live in zone 4b/5a and have a 2-3 foot wide stretch of ground between two driveways that are also at different levels forming a hillside that can only grow grass if watered very regularly. Could I not set free some phyllostachys nuda in that space? My thought process is that it would form a natural wall/hedge beween us and the neighbors. Between the concrete, dry soil and cold temps it should be easily contained. Any thoughts?
