Burning Bushes in shade and among trees
Comments (3)In a word, no. They certainly need sun for color, and the root competition makes it difficult for nearly any shrub. Are deer a problem? If not (and BTW, they love burning bush (Euonymus), perhaps yews, which deer also love, would work for you....See MoreBurning bush (tree form)
Comments (3)I just purchased 2 euonymous prarie radiance, tree form. It said on the tag 18-20' tall x18' wide. I placed them about 10' from each other. I had trouble finding much about them. Did find it's a relativly new cultivar. The leaves are a little longer and more slender than the standard burning bush. There were not too many leaves left on them when I purchased. I think they stem/trunk will be similar size as a serviceberry/tree form 4-5 width....See Moreyellow smoke bush - prune to tree form

I think the shrubs that sucker vigorously and or tend to put out a basal trunks from the get go like dogwoods are typically in the poor candidate category. Good luck and if you try it, let us know how it works out!...See MoreHow to have a Fruit tree pruned to a bush form?
