Little Baby Seedlings

I'm taking a big step here and looking to purchase seedlings of plants I can't find in my area (or are insanely expensive for large stock).

Most are 4"-12" either BR or pots.

My question is this. Should I just get them in the ground (I have a protected southeast exposed area) for a few years and then transplant them or should I put them in a bigger pot, set up irrigation (I could tee off a nearby spigot), repot if necessary and then get them to the spot they need to go in a few years? I can overwinter in the garage (plenty of room in there).

Any suggestions or link would be appreciated!

The plants...

Acer pseudosieboldianum

Acer triflorum

Chionanthus virginicus

Cladrastis lutea

Halesia carolina

Maackia amurensis

Oxydendrum arboreum

Aesculus turbinata

Acer truncatum

A somewhat unrelated question, should I get multiples to hedge against failures? Seedlings are just a few bucks.
