How do I get rid of a vindictive cat?
Comments (10)Although, I do feel for you, I must agree as a life-long cat owner that they are not vindictive and in this situation it usually is because there is something wrong with them. Outdoor Cats usually poop in dirt and cover it up. If they are marking territory they usually spray, not poop. It is possible that may be what he is doing, but unlikely. The benefit of telling the owner is that if he sick (nothing that you should fear, he isn't contagious to humans)they can take him to the vet to get him checked out, since he may not have a litter box at home for them to notice it. Be clear with them that you are telling them out of concern for the animal, not because you are looking to punish him. As for your part of the problem, I too suggest getting a PHEROMONE spray or liquid (available at any pet store) and spraying on the area he poops after cleaning it with a bleach substance to kill the smell and bacteria. They will keep going there if they can smell it and bleach or other cleaners do not get rid of the scent (they can smell it) and making it more uncomfortable. You could put a litter box near by, which could solve the problem, too. But please do tell the owner that their cat may be sick and save both of you from further misery if that is indeed the cause of it....See Morehow to get rid of cat smell....
Comments (1)I have an allergy to cats. What you are allergic to is cat dander--dandruff. My cousin is severely allergic to cats and she can tell if a person has been handling cats even though there is no hair on their clothes. There may be no hair but there is dander. A good cleaning and vacuuming of the house should be all that's needed, especially now that the carpets have been removed. Don't forget to get rid of the vacuum bag after you clean, if you don't that will be a storehouse for fur and dander....See MoreTalking about mice...is a cat the only way to get rid of them?
Comments (27)I'm petrified of dead mice and living ones out here in the New Mexico can carry Bubonic Plague or Hantavirus. So, we use a combination of mousetraps (that DH has to empty for me), steel wool into every possible opening they can get into and pure peppermint oil. Our pest control people told me that mice (and packrats, another huge problem out here) have highly sensitive noses and for some reason hate the smell of peppermint. It must be the pure oil, though, and not the peppermint extract sold for cooking. I stuff plastic webbed tubing with cotton balls, tie off both ends with rubberbands or plastic coated wire ties and then put several drops of peppermint oil on them. I put them in corners and along the walls where I know the mice travel, as mice follow the urine scents they leave as they walk and tend to use the same routes over and over. I buy the peppermint oil at my local Ace Hardware store. You may be able to get the tubing there, too. I'm still using the bunch my pest control people gave me, so I haven't had to buy any as yet. Re-moisten the cottonballs every month. I've been using mine for a couple of years now, so they do last. Here's the oil I use: And here's what I use to make them with: I've also used one of those high frequency emitters outside in our seating area on the front portal. It needs to be plugged into an outlet and seems to have worked fairly well. I need to remember to buy a new one as mine broke a while back. Comments (3)BIN and Kilz are tinted white, you probably want to try clear shellac. You can buy it in a spray can or put it on with a brush and it won’t affect the color of your wood furniture. You might try getting some acrylic craft paints to touch up the dark spots to match the original color. Hope this helps....See MoreUser
