Yup! Spring sure is almost here in VA! And beloved favorites are greeting it's coming with me....

The Jungle Stars are fully awake and in full bloom...

Jeri I wanted to visit that garden last year, but as I remember it was like 100 degrees that Saturday and I got a migraine from it. I hope to get there this year. Linda, About the only difference is the size. So, as Dora suggests, you may have more of them on a shelf! The distance from light fixture to top of plant is also less than with standards. You can space your shelves closer together, too. Some recommend the distance for minis should be 6 to 8 inches from light to top of plant. Where as standards 12 or so inches. Also, it is recommended to repot more often than standards. Anywhere from 3 to 6 months. When you repot you usually stay with the same size pot - no need to move into a larger size. You may just use solo cups. Some say they are hard to work with. I guess because they are small. It's just what you get use to, I suppose. Arthritic hands may have problems? I do at times use forceps to take leaves off etc. My knuckle on occasion has broken the leaf above off while I'm trying to pinch a stem or flower off or check the soil. Hope you give them a try. Mac (Week two. One more to go! Maybe Valentines Day I'll have blooms.)

This thread WANTS to live! :) I brought the tortilla rollups. They couldn't be easier (though they are better with a spicier and less "chunky" sauce; I tried a new salsa and it was both too mild and too chunky for the recipe). Here's the recipe (not kidding when I say it's easy -- the key is to plan ahead because they really do need at least 24 hours to chill, preferably a couple of days) ... TORTILLA ROLLUPS 6-8 large flour tortillas 1 large tub soft cream cheese One 4 oz. can diced green chilies One 4 oz. can chopped black olives 2 tb. chopped green onions Mix all ingredients and spread on tortillas (don't spread right up to edge). Roll neatly and wrap tightly in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for several days. Slice and serve with salsa or picquante sauce. ----------------------------- Today's rain is perfect for all my new additions -- thanks again to everyone!

Waaaaaaa...I need more bigger clay pots, potting mix AND a GREENHOUSE!!!! I should buy some Lotto tickets! LOL!!!

Beautiful, as always, Maria! I love seeing your photography! You're such a professional!

Residence reminds me of a cybister version of Red Peacock... it's got the same prolific nature, almost the same colors, and it looks wonderful with the sun shining on it! That red orange is a knockout!

They're all fabulous, Maria! And, I'm with Mark on this... what goes around, comes around... meaning, the generosity you've shown toward others, and the help you've given, will most certainly come back to you! You'll see!

SPs flourishing in 7" pots and look at those tall strong scapes!!!

Will somebody peel these onions!LOL!!! Notice that SP has rounded leaf tips. It's short and very well behaved leaves have this bluish sheen too.

SP bulbs develop these very dark almost black and shiny outer bulb skin. This one is in the process of doing that. From cream/yellow to brown to black/brown.

Ahhhhh yes the wake-up call.captivating pix too.Maybe Pumas shouldnt look at Panthers too much.He gets the likey-likey wanna-wanna's I like the growth habits with the leaves and scape bud color.Possible that this,Sweet Lil and MG are siblings? Keep those wake up pix coming Maria! I'm soaking them up!

OH SO BEAUTIFUL! I really really want a residence and a striped panther! ANd I want them to be as healthy and happy as yours!

I was interested to see that your Rembrand Van Rijn's are just starting. NEarly all of my bulbs have bloomd now except my RvR and Giraffes. Maybe that means the will both bloom when their natural time for blooming rolls round.I ended up with a number of both last year and am surprised they have not bloomed.

Lizalily, my Giraffes and Rembrandts haven't bloomed yet, either... perhaps it's the fact that we're north of Maria? I'm sure they'll be pushing scapes soon!

I expect my first bloom in a day or two. You will see them as they bloom (good or bad).

I look forward to seeing your beauties, just to see what I want!!!!! LOL, absolutely gorgeous.
I will have to push striped panther to the head of the I want list.

BTW, the jungle bells is growing beautiful leaves the scapes stalled and dried out. I guess the weather during shipping did have an effect on them, I can't wait till next year!

Mine is doing the same, Chaz, so we both have some lovely flowers to look forward to next bloom cycle! I just love that double green!

I have a little Striped Panther youth, thanks to the generosity of my dear friends... but it won't be mature enough to bloom for another couple of years. I don't know where adult bulbs of Striped Panther could be purchased from... I've never seen it offered anywhere. Has anyone else?
